The N55 BMW 6 cylinder gas turbo engine is a potent and efficient power plant -- but don't buy into the hype that your F30 335i is maintenace-free! Those "free" oil changes that BMW performs during the warranty period occur in half the frequency you should really be changing your oil. The LL-01 BMW oil specification marks stringent requirements from BMW that oil must meet in order to receive this approval rating. Still used today in many BMW NA and Turbo engines, LL-01 TwinPower Turbo 5w-30 and all LL-01 approved oils are great for ensuring proper wear protection and low fuel consumption, even during high oil change intervals. When BMW LL-04 oil was developed, it was not approved at the time for use in the US. This was due to the high sulfur and ethanol content in US fuels. Originally used mostly for diesel engines and euro motors, LL-04 demand is now starting to pick up with changes in US fuels such as lower sulfur content since 2014 and thanks to LL-04 and LL-01 being interchangeable/compatible. The slight advantage of LL-04 over LL-01 is due to LL-04's higher ZDDP levels and HTHS ratings. This allows for increased engine protection at higher temperatures and engine pressures. In addition, LL-04 also has a lower SAPS level which benefits direct-injection engines, including all BMW turbo engines since 2007.

When replacing your worn out brakes, the market is flooded with performance options. If your BMW doesn't see track time, it's not very practical. Performance pads and rotors tend to result in a lack of bite at low braking temperatures and cause excessive noise in daily driven vehicles that becomes irritating. BMW brakes from the factory are perfectly suited for trips around town, across the country, and even the occasional spirited driving session, delivering smooth, quiet, and long lasting performance.

Stay planted in the corners with this 328i and 335i suspension upgrade. The stock suspension does well to deliver comfort and control. But our E92 customers demand more and this H&R and Bilstein package is a step above the stock, delivering less bodyroll, better balance, and improved stance, and without sacrificing ride quality.

H&R Sport springs lower the ride height as much as 1.3" in front and 1.2" in the back and stiffens the spring rate. Both combine to lower the car's center of gravity and reduce the amount of bodyroll in corners. The springs are progressive rate so their initial stiffness is actually very compliant and it becomes stiffer as the spring is compressed. This is great for street cars that see bumps and potholes where suspension compliance is key. Overall, they are about 30% stiffer than the stock original springs. Lowering amount will be less if replacing the factory sport suspension.

We use Bilstein B8 shocks as the dampers and they feature Bilstein's patented and innovative valving system. With this system, small bumps and impacts are absorbed as they should be. But the shocks stiffen for cornering and other suspension motions. It's the best of both worlds as the shock self-adjusts based on suspension motion. Bilstein HD shocks work with these shorter springs because the only change Bilstein makes is a slightly longer shock. These fit with the stock strut and shock mounts, making for an easy and clean install.
