Exhaust systems are typically split among multiple sections and each section has its own form of fasteners and attachment points. The gaskets, hangers, and seals that join each section together should be replaced any time the exhaust is removed. As the exhaust is tightened together the gaskets and seals are crushed or deformed to form a tight seal. Re-using them is possible but greatly opens up the potential for an exhaust leak. Exhaust leaks can lead to a number of major and minor problems including power loss, check engine faults, and noise issues. Replacing your hangers and gaskets will ensure you don't have to take the exhaust down all over again.

The perfect time to preventatively replace your exhaust studs is anytime you remove the manifolds (perhaps to install headers) or are removing the head or complete engine. Kit includes the correct number of OEM studs, copper locking nuts, and also includes two jam-nuts to be used for removing your old studs and installing the new studs. A Do-It-Yourself exhaust install can be hard enough. But to stop in the middle of it to run to the dealer for gaskets, hangers, or special hardware is a major inconvenience. Don't be left taking the bus to the dealership on the hunt for parts. Get all of the parts you may need before the job begins! And with mileage we can almost gurantee that any section you remove will need to have new gaskets. Some of the gaskets are crushed to ensure a tight seal; other gaskets become stuck to their flanges. This set of hangers and gaskets for the 2001-2006 E46 M3 covers all of the sections of the exhaust, from the headers to the muffler.

The exhaust on the E46 M3 is broken up into sections -
headers - gaskets at the cylinder head and at the outlet to section 1, plus an air pump gasket
section 1 - crush gasket rings on the inlet and flange gaskets at the outlet to section 2
section 2 - flange gaskets at the inlet and steel exhaust rings at the outlet to the muffler
muffler - steel exhaust rings on the inlet with special square-shouldered nuts (included with hanger/gasket kit)

This package also includes 3 new muffler hangers and the 2 hangers in the center of the exhaust (mounted on section 1).

We also offer most of the exhaust hardware you may need -
Torx bolts and nuts for the header-section 1 connection
copper nuts for the section 1-section 2 connection (M8x30 bolts can be re-used)

This is a complete exhaust hanger and bracket kit for the 1987-1992 E30 325i models. It's all of the hangers and gaskets needed for the rear muffler and a life-saving addition to any exhaust project on your car. Any of the hardware and hangers that have been on the car for a few years are prone to rust and seizing in place. So to get them off usually means breaking or cutting one or more pieces. So having this complete E30 hanger kit on hand will allow you to finish the job without scrambling for parts later on. And new hangers are always a good idea anyway.

This 325i hanger kit includes -
front upper muffler body clamp - 18201707925 (18211707923) - x 1
front lower muffler body clamps - 18201178132 (18211178126) - x 2
rear lower muffler body clamp - 18211176029 (18211176713) - x 1
rear muffler rubber hangers - 18211712838 - x 2
center muffler rubber hanger - 18211105635 - x 1
muffler to center section seal ring (45mm) - 18111723541 x 1
muffler to center section seal ring (42mm) - 18111245960 x 1
nuts & bolts for all of the above

There is an early and late version to the muffler band clamps but the only difference we saw was more holes in the band on the early style. The early style is included in this kit which might be better because water won't get trapped between the clamp and the muffler body.

If you're removing the center section from the exhaust manifolds you can add those gaskets as well.
