The ECS Tuning Center Support Bearing Brace is engineered to improve drivetrain performance and longevity. The factory center support bearing features internal an internal rubber bushing to reduce NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) transmission to the cabin. Unfortunately, this material choice falls short when it comes to performance applications. Under extreme load conditions, this bushing is prone to flexing, resulting in driveshaft misalignment. To address the shortcomings of the factory rubber center support carrier design, ECS engineers developed a set of precision-fit, split polyurethane bushings that secure tightly around the existing driveshaft bearing. Constructed from 30A durometer polyurethane, this material eliminates bushing deflection while maintaining minimal noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). By eliminating deflection, this innovative solution not only improves durability but also ensures a significantly longer service life than the OEM center support bearing—making it an excellent upgrade for aging BMW chassis.

The polyurethane bushings are surrounded by a robust 6061-T6 billet aluminum bracket designed with strength and reliability in-mind. This bracket features a split design for hassle-free installation, eliminating the need to remove the driveshaft assembly entirely. To install the ECS Center Support Carrier, simply cut around your existing bearing, remove the factory brace, and clamp on your new bushings and bracket. This user-friendly approach saves time and simplifies maintenance or upgrades. Two stainless steel socket head screws are used to fasten the two-piece bracket, offering corrosion resistance and secure clamping under high torque and stress. While this provides a smooth and quiet ride for standard driving, it falls short in performance-oriented applications where durability and precision are critical. During acceleration, shifting, and under load, the rubber bushing's inherent flexibility allows for excessive driveshaft movement. Over time, repeated stress and wear on the rubber will cause bushing failure, risking poor driveshaft alignment and efficiency. In extreme cases, this failure will cause a constant rotational "clunking" noise, a clear indicator of impending failure.

To improve upon the factory design, and to create a performance alternative, our engineers started by designing a set of exact-fit, split low durometer rubber bushings that clamp around your existing driveshaft bearing. Crafted from 30A durometer rubber, our material choice effectively eliminates bushing deflection without causing an increase in noise, vibration, and harshness. By eliminating deflection, this design ensures a longer lifespan than the stock center support bearing, making it a great investment for enthusiasts looking to maintain their aging BMW chassis.

The rubber bushings are encased in a high-strength 6061-T6 billet aluminum bracket, engineered for both durability and performance. Like the bushings, the bracket features a split design, allowing for seamless installation without the need to remove the entire driveshaft assembly, saving time and effort during maintenance or upgrades. To ensure reliable clamping and secure fastening, the bracket is equipped with two corrosion-resistant stainless steel socket head screws. Our ECS Driveshaft Center Support Carrier was designed, engineered, tested, and quality-inspected by our Research and Development team at our Wadsworth, Ohio, facility. We strive for the highest level of precision and quality through leading-edge product development technology including FARO laser scanning for reverse engineering and quality inspection, SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping utilizing our in-house 3D printer, and rigorous long-term product testing.

This is a 1-piece conversion for the BMW E36 platform. The shaft measures 2.75" x .170" tube with a 108mm CV to mount to the differential, which will eliminate any possible pinion angle issues. This shaft weighs 20lbs and since the center bearing is no longer used, it will make the car seem more athletic and give it a smoother power transfer. This shaft is now balanced on a 9500RPM balancer to ensure a perfectly balanced shaft. Comes complete with adapter plates to mount up to the transmission and differential flanges and all necessary hardware for installation.

Please Note: The E36 M3 uses either a 4-bolt or 6-bolt rear differential flange. This driveshaft is for the 4-bolt rear differential ONLY. If your vehicle has a 6-bolt rear flange, please see part# BMWSH2-CV-C. Please verify which differential flange your vehicle has before ordering necessary hardware for installation.  Custom built to order.  Build time is 6-8 weeks.

Responsible for transferring power from the transfer case to the front differential, the front driveshaft experiences wear and tear over time, leading to play in its universal joints. This wear often results in a noticeable driveline vibration at higher speeds.

As the universal joints are non-serviceable components, replacing the entire driveshaft assembly is the recommended solution. Febi-Bilstein provides a cost-effective and high-quality reproduction unit designed to meet your performance needs.

This is a 1-piece conversion for the BMW E36 platform. The shaft is made from 3" x .083" DOM tube with a 108mm CV to mount to the differential, which will eliminate any possible pinion angle issues. This shaft weighs 25lbs and since there is no hanger bearing, it will make the car seem more athletic and give it a smoother power transfer. We would have liked to offer an aluminum version, but for strength, it would have to be made in 3.5" diameter which is too large to fit without a clearance issue. We do offer a Carbon Fiber version also, part number BMWSH2-CV-C. This shaft is now being balanced on a new 9500RPM balancer to ensure a perfectly balanced shaft. Comes complete with adapter plates to mount up to the transmission and differential flanges and all necessary hardware for installation.

This is a 1-piece Chromoly conversion for the BMW E46 (6-Speed Manual Transmission ONLY, will not fit SMG).

The shaft is 3" x .083" DOM tube with billet aluminum plates to convert the small bolt pattern on the factory transmission to use larger 1310 U-Joint and a 108mm CV to mount to the differential, which will eliminate any possible pinion angle issues. This shaft weighs 25 pounds and since there is no hanger bearing, it will make the car seem more athletic and give it a smoother power transfer.
Unlike other aftermarket shafts for BMW's this shaft features a slider system that will let the shaft move in and out during racing and chassis flex. This shaft is now being balanced on a new 9500RPM balancer to ensure a perfectly balanced shaft. Comes complete with precision machined front and rear conversion plates and all necessary hardware for installation.
