Find Parts That Fit Your Vehicle

BMW Drivetrain Parts

Building your perfect BMW is more than just adding horsepower and stiff suspension. Your drivetrain needs attention in order to deliver power effectively. Most BMWs feature comfortable clutch discs, heavy flywheels, long shifter throws, and open differentials. The drivetrain transmits power to the wheels, but can also be a source of power loss when it is designed for comfort rather than performance. Everything on this page will help you improve your power delivery and driving experience by providing custom Limited Slip Differentials, Short Shift Conversions, Performance Clutch Discs, Lightweight Flywheels, and anything else your BMW needs to be the perfect driving experience.

Unlike other aftermarket mounts, the mounting plate and studs of our mounts have been Zinc-plated to prevent corrosion. Rogue Engineering Transmission Mounts are sold as a pair, and come with Grade 8 Zinc plated hardware. Rogue Engineering transmission mounts are designed with street comfort in mind while still reducing left and right movement of the transmission. By using a cylindrical shape instead of the factory hourglass like design and utilizing Neoprene rubber deflection can be significantly reduced, minimizing unwanted transmission movement while maintaining vibration dampening characteristics.

The stock center support bearing carrier is designed to reduce NVH to the cabin by loosely holding the center bearing with a flimsy rubber bushing. During launches and shifts, the driveshaft is allowed to travel off-center, decreasing throttle response and causing oscillations through the drivetrain. As they age, the carrier rubber sags and dry rots, ruining the driveshaft alignment. Fix or prevent this common issue with JXB Performance's Driveshaft Center Support Bearing Upgrade! JXB utilizes a simple but extremely effective 2-piece design which allows you to install this upgrade and replace bushings with ease. The stock center support carrier is simply cut away, allowing the JXB bushings to "clamp" down on the driveshaft bearing and hold the driveshaft securely in place, maintaining driveshaft alignment at all times.

The stock center support bearing carrier is engineered to minimize noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in the cabin by loosely securing the center bearing with a soft rubber bushing. However, this design allows the driveshaft to move off-center during launches and shifts, reducing throttle response and causing drivetrain oscillations. Over time, the rubber bushing can sag or dry rot, leading to misalignment of the driveshaft.

Prevent or fix this common problem with JXB Performance's Driveshaft Center Support Bearing Upgrade! This upgrade features a simple yet highly effective 2-piece design that makes installation and bushing replacement effortless. The stock carrier is cut away, and the JXB bushings securely "clamp" the driveshaft bearing in place, ensuring constant driveshaft alignment.

The Street bushing option from JXB is the most popular choice, offering a significant improvement over the stock design while keeping NVH levels minimal.

Note: Some light NVH, such as a soft hum, may occur at certain speeds. However, with a modified exhaust or open windows, it’s unlikely to be noticeable.

Installation is straightforward and doesn’t require removing the driveshaft. The 2-piece design clamps directly onto the OEM bearing, though removing the old carrier will require a cutting tool.

Two bushing options are available for this kit, Street and Track, both of which are many times better than the stock bushings: The street bushings absorb most of the NVH from the drivetrain. Some light NVH is possible at some speeds in the form of a soft hum. (With a modified exhaust or windows down, you’ll probably never hear it) The track bushings are for those who want no-compromise drivetrain performance. These may create a substantial amount of cabin noise. Not sure which is for you? Try them both, they’re interchangeable! Installation does not require the removal of the driveshaft. The 2-part design clamps around the OEM bearing. The old carrier must be removed, so a cutting tool is required. Looking for replacement or additional bushings? One of the most satisfying upgrades you can make to your BMW is to its factory shifter mechanism. By reducing the shifter's throw, you can give your manual transmission BMW a sportier, more precise feel. However, with so many different "short shift kits" out there, how can you be sure you're making the right decision? With the introduction of the Rogue Engineering OCTANE short shift kit, the choice is now crystal clear!

Rogue Engineering refuses to compromise with "lever substitution" as a method of short shift kit development. Rather than using actual test vehicles for their products, some companies actually dig through OEM factory parts diagrams to determine which factory levers can be substituted with others. This "lever substitution" method of introducing product is unacceptable. These shift kits have been developed and perfected through years of experience in proven short shifter technology, by Co-Founder, Ben Liaw. As longtime BMW enthusiasts know, Ben was single-handedly responsible for introducing and developing the idea of affordable, BMW factory-like, short shift kits for late model BMWs (BL/SS for those young enough to remember!).

Rogue Engineering idea of a short shift kit is not substituting levers in place of factory ones just because "they fit". Throughout the 80s until recently, BMW was notorious for using only a few specific shifter levers for their manual transmission vehicles. For other companies, making just a few "replacement levers" and offering them in place of those factory part numbers was an easy way of calling it a short shift kit. Unfortunately, for those companies, BMW started using many different part numbers making it more difficult to just "swap in a lever".

Rogue Engineering only develops it's short shift kit with test vehicles in their facility, testing numerous prototypes, offering others to test it before settling on its final design. They feel that this old school, real world testing is the best way when modifying OEM ergonomic, sensory-based controls.

Soft bushings are the enemy of launching hard, and keeping your drivetrain together. The BMW Transfer Case bushings are notoriously soft, and that is the opposite of what you want when launching a car hard. You can replace the bushing with a solid one, but this is time-consuming usually requires lowering or removing the transfer case, and results in a lot of added NVH. The best path is simply to reduce the amount of flex of the factory bushing so you keep the nice manners when cruising around town, and at idle, but when its time to the launch the transfer case cannot move as it could without the insert. These come as a set of two with 2 bolts to keep them in place. Install time once you get to them is about 2-3 minutes. Could not be easier. Put some lube on them, push them in, and tighten the screws. These are a MUST for high-power G8X, and F9X X3/X4M Builds. All platforms they fit are below. Features: 6061- T6 aluminum construction Easy to install Fully reversible Do not add NVH

The stock center support bearing carrier utilizes an extremely thin layer of rubber to secure the driveshaft, allowing for minimal movement to effectively insulate the cabin from noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). However, this design is less effective at maintaining proper bearing alignment under heavy loads. Over time, it allows the bearing to gradually sag, disrupting the driveshaft alignment and introducing play in the driveline during gear shifts and throttle application. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) rubber bushing has a tendency to sag, become brittle, and eventually deteriorate, resulting in dry rot and cracking. Even in well-maintained vehicles, the stock bushing can develop cracks in as little as 5-10 years. When the bushing loses its integrity, it can lead to pronounced vibrations, clunking noises, and increased stress on the bearing. Adding to the challenge, the stock carrier is permanently molded onto the center support bearing, making replacement a difficult task that typically necessitates specialized tools.

AAF Racing have been building race cars for more than 8 years and have been installing all types and brands of after market shifters. Using all of that knowledge, AAF has incorporated all of this into their new innovative design. AAF's BMW Race Shifter with Adjustable Shift Shaft has a very wide array of available adjustments allowing you the ability to tune it exactly to your liking. If you want to change something about the way it works, most likely there is an adjustment for it! Adjustable Features: Throw Ratio: The knob height must remain at the same height and position for obvious ergonomic reasons. This means in order to incorporate a throw ratio adjustment WITHOUT changing the position of the knob or the pivot point, the location of the shift shaft connection must move closer or farther from the pivot point. This is done in the lower section of the shift lever. Adjustable Shift Shaft Included: Included is the AAF Adjustable Shift Shaft as they believe this allows for optimal shifting. With an adjustable shift shaft, you are able to move the shift knob forwards or backwards, as well as left or right (closer or farther from the steering wheel). You can make all these changes without affecting the spring position of 3rd and 4th gears. The shift shaft has an adjustment range from 165mm to 245mm. Knob Height: The AAF Race Shifter is capable of a total knob height change of 50mm while still having 3 different options for throw ratio. There are two knob spacers included, a 25mm and 50mm. This allows you to thread the knob down tight and lock it into place. Spring Center: Coupled with the AAF Adjustable Shift Shaft, the position of where your AAF Shifter springs to center is totally adjustable. There are two screws per center locator that can be used when setting your center position, then the upper cap will be locked down to ensure your center preference position never moves out of adjustment. Spring Pressure: One of the most unique features of the AAF Race Shifter is the centering spring mechanism. Unlike most shifters that use a typical steel spring, the AAF Race Shifter uses a polyurethane spring. This polyurethane spring absorbs shock and vibration load that a typical steel spring would magnify and resonate. This gives the AAF Race Shifter a connected feel to the transmission that is unmatched. It features two polyurethane springs. This allows the adjustment of the centering location of each spring independently which gets rid of any slack but also allows for preloading of the spring. AAF also offers multiple different spring rates of polyurethane which are preloaded in house. Mounting and Installation: AAF's Race Shifter is centered directly over the factory shifter hole. This allows it to be to be installed in many BMW applications. E30 Applications: Race: bolts in on the sides of the transmission tunnel to eliminate any flex in the sheet metal Street: precision water-jet cut flat plate that reinforces the chassis from directly beneath the shifter All other information and installation details available on AAF's website!

The original center support bearing carrier from the factory employs a thin layer of rubber to secure the driveshaft, minimizing movement to reduce noise and vibrations in the vehicle's cabin. However, this design struggles to maintain the bearing's alignment under load, leading to gradual sagging and misalignment of the driveshaft. This, in turn, results in play during gear shifts and throttle application. Even in well-maintained vehicles, the initial rubber bushing can deteriorate and turn brittle, often developing cracks within 5-10 years. When this deterioration occurs, it can lead to heightened vibrations, clunking noises, and increased stress on the bearing. Additionally, replacing the stock carrier is a challenging task because it is permanently connected to the center support bearing, necessitating specialized tools for replacement.

See T#4799658 for replacement street bushings and T#4799659 for replacement track bushings.

VTT noticed a hole in the F9X X3/4M market for a high-quality, lightweight, NVH-friendly, and easy-to-install Diff Lock Down kit to improve diff stability under launching, and hard cornering. So we did something about it and went to work on a very innovative design that 100% positively locks the diff down from movement, while shielding it from adding a ton of NVH, and can be used with the stock diff, and subframe bushings. This design uses existing mounting points on the vehicle, you do NOT have to remove the subframe or the Diff to install. Simply remove 4 differential bolts, drill two holes in the subframe slightly bigger, install two M8 riv-nuts, and install the lockdown, you do not even have to move the exhaust. A typical install can be 30-45 minutes for someone who is experienced working on vehicles, an hour or two if you like taking it slow. Features: Lightweight 1.5 lbs for the entire lockdown plate Uses FOUR connection points on the Diff, and three on the subframe for the ultimate in positive diff location, this will stop all diff movement on launch, saving your guibos, etc 100% Billet construction from 6061-T6 aluminum Anodized in 3 colors for corrosion resistance, a long-lasting finish, and good looks The subframe does NOT have to be removed for installation Uses all 12.9 grade hardware Does not add excessive NVH Positively locks down the diff to eliminate all unwanted movement under launches, acceleration, cornering, etc.

VTT now offers the ONLY easy-to-install, plug-and-play xDrive controller on the market. This device will allow you to turn off and on your xDrive capability from the driver's seat with a remote. While other options do exist such as X-Delete, or an in-dash gauge, one is a very slow process and is not viable to use as a way to do a burnout at the drag strip, and the other is a very expensive, AND very intrusive device that requires removal of most of the dash, and installing a gauge. VTT's solution takes 30 seconds to install once you gain access to the underside of the vehicle, and can be removed just as easily.

Spring Pressure: One of the most unique features of the AAF Street Shifter is the centering spring mechanism. Unlike most shifters that use a typical steel spring, the AAF Street Shifter uses a polyurethane spring. This polyurethane spring absorbs shock and vibration load that a typical steel spring would magnify and resonate. This gives the AAF Street Shifter a connected feel to the transmission that is unmatched. It features two polyurethane springs. This allows the adjustment of the centering location of each spring independently which gets rid of any slack but also allows for preloading of the spring. AAF also offers multiple different spring rates of polyurethane which are preloaded in house. Mounting and Installation: AAF's Street Shifter is centered directly over the factory shifter hole.
