After the introduction of the M52TU/M54 engines, BMW observed an uptick in CCV-related issues, especially in cold regions. Vehicles operating in extremely low temperatures often encountered a blockage in the CCV dipstick hose, leading to elevated crankcase pressure and visible blue smoke from the exhaust. To address this issue, BMW introduced cold climate-specific hoses with foam insulation, preventing condensation and facilitating quicker oil warm-up.
