For Alternator / Water Pump Belt
Hydraulic Belt Tensioner for E36, E46, E39 6-cyl models. This is the oil-filled tensioner that keeps the main drive belt in the proper tension. Over time the piston seals inside allow fluid to leak out. The tensioner becomes frozen or inoperable. Replacement is the best corrective action to take. The BMW N63 4.4L Vent Pipe addresses common issues with oil separators freezing in cold weather conditions. This problem often occurs if the vehicle is driven before it is fully warmed up, leading to a howling noise and multiple oil leaks. The crankcase breather valve in the vent pipe purges oil vapor from the engine block into the valve cover. However, condensation can sometimes cause the valve to freeze, which may result in the oil separator system failing, cracking, or disintegrating. This replacement vent pipe ensures proper function and prevents costly damage by maintaining the integrity of the oil separator system.
This is an OEM INA Idler Pulley, also known as the roller pulley or deflection pulley. The idler pulleys are known to be the primary sources for 'belt squealing'. The pulley is also encased in rubber which will crack over time. If left without service the rubber could fail completely, chucking the belt and leaving you stranded. Replacement is a very simple procedure and can be done anytime the fan is off the engine (belt replacement, water pump service, alternator replacement, etc). Don't neglect your motor mounts! Most stock BMW motor mounts are fluid filled and the stiffness of the mount depends on this fluid. But over time the fluid leaks out and the strength of the mount is greatly reduced. A worn motor mount allows the engine to twist and shift around. The harder you're driving the more shift will occur. As the engine is moving around it can contact other parts in the engine bay - usually cooling related. The mechanical fan can hit the radiator; the A/C compressor can hit a radiator hose, the exhaust will flex and may break. Twisting of the engine can also lead to shifting problems as the transmission twists with it. There are countless issues related to worn or compressed motor mounts so don't overlook these as a regular replacement item (every 50,000 miles).

The timing chain tensioner from the 1995 E36 M3 is a great upgrade for other Motorsport models - 1988-1991 E30 M3 and 1989-1995 E34 M5! This tensioner virtually eliminates the cold start-up engine rattle so common with the S14 and S38 engines. It makes the whole engine quieter and smoother. Any new tensioner will accomplish that but the S50 tensioner has several new features that make it superior to the original design. This unit also has a internally loaded spring, so installation is much easier than the old style tensioner (no need to squeeze the spring and hold it while installing). Includes oil seal ring (not pictured).
