BMW uses a lot of plastic in their engine components to save weight and money. Unfortunately, plastic is damaged easily and the factory oil filter cap needs a special tool to remove. This cap is designed to use the original o-ring seal so no special parts are required. You only have to remove the original 'filter cage' from the original cap and transfer it to the new aluminum cap. The satin black anodize blends in with the rest of your engine bay making this a smart and subtle upgrade.

These Genuine BMW gaskets seal the base of the oil filter housing to the side of the engine block. If you have to remove your oil filter housing for any reason, or if you just notice a coolant or oil leak from the base of the housing, it is a good idea to replace these gaskets. Over time, the gaskets can become brittle and will crack, allowing oil and coolant to leak and even mix. If not addressed quickly, this could allow for coolant intrusion into the oil system, wreaking havoc on internal bearings and other sensitive components. Prevent leaks and engine wear and tear with these replacement gaskets directly from BMW.
