An engine oil cooler and filter housing plays a critical role in maintaining optimal oil temperature, preventing the oil from breaking down under high heat and load, and filtering damaging particles out of your oil.

The B58 BMW engine uses the engine’s coolant for thermal regulation of the oil. The problem is that the OE housing is made out of brittle plastic. This part will suffer internal cracking and leaks at some point, which leads to oil and coolant mixing, a catastrophic problem if left unchecked. 

Indicators like fluid leaks or “milkshake” oil might be noticeable if caught in time, but it's just a matter of time. 

The solution is a complete metal housing upgrade featuring new gasket seals, an oil filter cap, a heavy-duty oil filter, new bolts, and an upgraded oil cooler, all of which exceed OEM standards. If your B58 is stock, modded, or has high(er) mileage we recommend this upgrade.
