The OE thermal management system for the B4x/B58 G-chassis BMW and Toyota GR Supra offers an improved formula from prior generations. With a setup where engine coolant is also re-routed through the heat exchanger, the system effectively assists in overall engine cooling as well as charge cooling. However, like its predecessors, it has room for improvement as it can be overwhelmed when the system is taxed aggressively or as power levels are increased. Once overburdened, this results in the undesirable outcome of power being diminished. Avoidance of this unwelcome scenario can be attained though with a Dinan heat exchanger that improves the overall thermal management system so everything runs cooler and more efficiently while being budget-friendly. The Dinan B4x/B58 heat exchanger for the BMW G2x/G4x and Toyota A9x Supra assists in improving overall charge cooling using a more robust core (45mm thick Dinan core vs. 26.75mm thick OEM core) that wields 68% more heat transfer surface area for improved cooling capacity. The significant increase in core thickness and full-size end tanks contribute to the overall thermal mass (ability to absorb, store, and release heat) improvement beyond the OEM setup. The 2.0 Liter B48 and the 3.0 Liter B58 engines for the G29 Z4 and MkV Supra are equipped with an indirect charge-air cooling circuit. This means the cooling of the charged air is not realized by the ambient air as cooling medium (as usual), but made with its own cooling water circuit. A reduction of the temperature of the cooling water is directly equated with an improved cooling performance of the charged air. This is exactly where the advantages of the WAGNERTUNING upgrade radiator come into play. The new developed competition racing core of the WAGNERTUNING high performance radiator increase the radiator volume of the OEM water cooler by a total of 117%. The calculated ratio between the inner and outer cooling surface generates a maximum heat transfer and allows at the same time enough air flow for the surrounding components (for example the engine radiator) for its own heat exchange. Furthermore, using an increased amount of cooling water, the entire system can be kept at a lower level over a longer period of time. All WAGNERTUNING radiators are equipped with a heat-conductive anti corrosion coating to ensure a lasting cooling effect. BMW’s turbocharged B48 and B58 engines use a water-to-air charge air cooling system, with a front-mounted heat exchanger responsible for heat dissipation. Unfortunately, the factory single-row, 25mm core design is quick to heat soak under high load, leading to excessive intake air temperatures and potential limp mode conditions—especially on modified or track-driven cars.

ECS Tuning’s High Performance Aluminum Heat Exchanger was developed in-house as a direct replacement and upgrade over the factory unit. Designed for durability and maximum cooling efficiency, this heat exchanger is a must-have for high-horsepower street builds, spirited canyon driving, and extended track sessions. Built from TIG-welded 6061-T6 aluminum, the ECS unit eliminates the factory plastic end tanks—one of the system’s most common failure points. Each heat exchanger features CNC-machined billet aluminum hose connections, mounting flanges, and brackets for perfect OE fitment and trouble-free installation.

To drastically improve thermal efficiency, the factory 25mm single-row core has been replaced with a dual-row, 42mm performance core, offering a 72% increase in thickness.
