This kit includes a new Genuine BMW Oil Level Sensor and three hex nuts to mount the new sensor to the oil pan. If the mounting stud bolts are also damaged, you will need 3 of BMW part number 07129904544. BMW has eliminated the dipstick in favor of electric oil level sensors located in the bottom of the oil pan. These sensors are designed to monitor both the oil level and oil condition, alerting you when the oil level is too low or the quality of the oil has dropped and should be changed. Unfortunately, like many BMW electrical components, these sensors are prone to failure and can result in improper level and quality readings. If you recently changed your oil and know the readings are incorrect, there is a good chance your sensor has failed. We recommend replacing your oil level sensor, in this case, to ensure you are always seeing proper levels and oil condition. Luckily, this sensor is easy to replace and could save you from potentially catastrophic issues later on.
