The water pump is a known failure point on most BMWs, new and old. Older model BMWs come from the factory with a mechanical fan that features a plastic impeller. Mechanical water pumps circulate coolant between the engine block, cylinder head, and radiators. Over time, the seals and bearings can wear out, leading to leaks from the impeller shaft and around the pump face. Some BMW water pumps have even had imellers that come loose from the shaft, resulting in little or no coolant flow. Plastic coolant flanges attached to the housing can become brittle over time, cracking or breaking off completely, leading to coolant loss and overheating. Restore cooling functionality and performance with a brand new pump directly from BMW. This coolant pump assembly includes the pump, the coolant support housing, four of the plastic coolant flanges, and a new water pump pulley.
