However, this focus on refinement comes at a performance cost. The hefty 27 lbs. of rotational mass dulls throttle response, slows acceleration, and makes rev-matching more difficult. Dual-mass flywheels are also known to be less reliable in tuned or modified setups and can be expensive to replace when they fail.
ECS Tuning developed their Lightweight Single-Mass Flywheel to address these issues with a performance-focused alternative. Weighing in at just 17 lbs., this flywheel sheds nearly 10 lbs. of rotating mass compared to the OEM unit—transforming throttle response, acceleration, and clutch feel for a more engaging and dynamic driving experience.
**This flywheel is to match with a factory type or aftermarket NON Dampened clutch kit!** MINIs factory set up engagement is dampened by the dual mass flywheel. This will be a little more aggressive engagement of the clutch over the stock factory set up as they system in not dampened!! Can be used from daily to the track days.
