The external temperature sensor on a BMW is placed within the underbody plastics that extend very close to the road. As a result it's easy to damage by rolling into a low curb or parking lot tire stop. The first sign you may have a problem with your external temperature sensor is if you have a really low reading. This is caused by the sensor either being damaged, missing or having an open circuit; the wires leading to the sensor may have torn off in an impact.

Includes solder filled heat shrink connectors, contact leads with wire, plug housing, temperature sensor, 10 pack of zip ties, and a panel mount zip tie for mounting the sensor.

Over the life of a vehicle, the transmission can often be overlooked when performing routine maintenance. If left unserviced, the automatic transmission fluid will break down, causing the valve body and filter to become contaminated with deposits and sludge. This will lead to poor shifting, slipping, and ultimately, transmission failure. For your 8-speed transmission, BMW recommends replacing your entire transmission pan and filter as the stock pan is constructed of plastic. This plastic pan will experience numerous drastic heat cycles over its lifetime, causing it to become weak and brittle, leading to potential catastrophic failure. Not only is this dangerous, but this is also very expensive when factoring in regular services. Upgrade your BMW's ZF transmission pan to PPE's Heavy-Duty Aluminum Transmission Pan and be done with pan replacements! PPE's one-of-a-kind transmission oil pan is cast from high-strength aluminum, allowing this pan to be used for the life of your transmission while also providing multiple benefits over your stock pan. Thanks to the thicker aluminum construction, internal heat fins, and integrated external cool fins, this pan helps promote reduced transmission fluid temperatures. The N55 in your BMW is an interference engine, meaning that if the timing chain were to fail your engine would suffer catastrophic damage due to valvetrain components colliding with each other. Over time the timing chain will start to wear and stretch, potentially causing it to skip timing or just completely fail. Also, the timing tensioners themselves could fail! Early symptoms of timing chain wear include front end noise not associated with VANOS, or slapping noises coming from the timing cover. Turner Motorsport has assembled a complete kit that includes everything necessary, as well as small hardware, to completely service the timing on your N55.
