A transmission mechatronics unit, often referred to simply as a "mechatronics unit," is a component found in modern automatic transmissions. It combines mechanical and electronic elements to control various functions of the transmission system, including gear shifting, clutch engagement, and torque distribution. The mechatronics unit contains sensors, solenoids, valves, processors, and other electronic components that work together to manage the transmission's operation. It receives input signals from various sensors throughout the vehicle, such as speed sensors, throttle position sensors, and engine load sensors, to determine the optimal gear selection and timing for shifting.

If your mechatronics unit has a failed component, the whole unit must be replaced as BMW does not provide individual components.
