Unlike the factory Non-M control arms that utilize fluid-filled bushings prone to cracking and leaking over time, these high-performance replacements feature solid rubber bushings. This design significantly reduces control arm deflection and sharpens front-end feedback, ensuring your vehicle feels more planted and responsive during cornering. Sidem has refined this setup even further by reinforcing key areas of the original factory design, resulting in a more durable and reliable component that stands up to the rigors of the road while maintaining a smooth, factory-plus feel.

Key Sidem Updates Include:

• Upgraded Ball Joint Inserts - Improved polymers for high temperature, high impact, and high wear resistance
• Upgraded Ball Joint Pin - Finished edges to prevent damage to the boot, and a machined seat to prevent shifting of the boot on the pin
• Improve Ball Joint Housing - Rounded edges and grooves to prevent damage and improve the sealing of the ball joint assembly
• Cold Forged Chromium Steel Ball Joints - Increases strength, resists rust and corrosion, and reduces friction for a significant increase in lifespan
• Improved Dust Boot/Cover Material & Design - Increases chemical and heat resistance. Also improves sealing against moisture and contamination from dirt and dust
• Improved Dust Boot/Cover Springs - Made from elastic spring steel with rounded edges to improve the sealing strength and prevent wear and tear on the boot
• Rolled Threading - Ensures the threads are stronger and less likely to strip
• Upgraded Rubber Bushings

  • Stronger rubber-to-metal adhesion to prevent tearing and separation over time

Beyond the gains in rigidity, these control arms offer a distinct performance advantage through their unique physical dimensions. Because the M3 arms are slightly longer than the Non-M control arms, they naturally add approximately .75 degrees of additional negative camber to your front suspension alignment. This subtle change in geometry keeps the tire more upright during hard cornering, effectively reducing understeer and maximizing the contact patch for superior grip and high-speed stability.

Note: For models with Xenon (HID) Adaptive Headlights, we also recommend replacing the front headlight leveling sensor rod, BMW part number 37142283867, during the replacement of these control arms.
