Shifter slop is a common complaint among all BMW models. Some of that play comes from the bushings where the shifter carrier mounts to the transmission. The original rubber carrier bushings don't last very long and when they get too soft the shifter flops around. These Teflon bushings are not as stiff as Delrin so they won't transmit as much vibration and buzz in the shifter. Yet Teflon will last much longer than the factory rubber, giving you precise shifting for many years.
Note: this is only one part of the shift linkage and there may be other components that need replacing to improve shifting feel.
We advise getting a replacement bushing carrier pin as well. If the original rubber bushings are worn the pin will have wear too and you will still have slop in the shifter, even with the new bushings.
These are the ROUND shifter carrier bushings (some BMW models have oval bushings).

The ECS Tuning Center Support Bearing Brace is engineered to improve drivetrain performance and longevity. The factory center support bearing features an internal rubber bushing to reduce NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) transmission to the cabin. Unfortunately, this material choice falls short when it comes to performance applications. Under extreme load conditions, this bushing is prone to flexing, resulting in driveshaft misalignment. To address the shortcomings of the factory rubber center support carrier design, ECS engineers developed a set of precision-fit, solid rubber bushings that secure tightly around the existing driveshaft bearing. Constructed from 30A durometer rubber, this material eliminates bushing deflection while maintaining minimal noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). By eliminating deflection, this innovative solution not only improves durability but also ensures a significantly longer service life than the OEM center support bearing—making it an excellent upgrade for aging BMW chassis.
The polyurethane bushings are surrounded by a robust 6061-T6 billet aluminum bracket designed with strength and reliability in mind. This bracket features a split design for hassle-free installation, eliminating the need to remove the driveshaft assembly entirely. To install the ECS Center Support Carrier, simply cut around your existing bearing, remove the factory brace, and clamp on your new bushings and bracket. This user-friendly approach saves time and simplifies maintenance or upgrades. Two stainless steel socket head screws are used to fasten the two-piece bracket, offering corrosion resistance and secure clamping under high torque and stress. This combination of materials and design ensures dependable performance and long-lasting durability, even in demanding applications.

BMW Shifter Carrier Arm Bushings - Round are essential for enhancing shifting precision and feel in your BMW’s manual transmission. These 90A urethane bushings from Turner Motorsport replace the stock rubber bushings, which tend to wear out quickly, resulting in sloppy shifting. Designed to fit at the front of the shifter carrier arm, these bushings securely attach the carrier to the transmission, providing a stiffer connection that minimizes excessive play without increasing vibration. This upgrade is perfect for enthusiasts seeking a more responsive shifting experience.
These bushings are compatible with various BMW models, including the E30, E36, E46, E28, E34, E39, E24, and Z1 Roadster, and serve as a direct replacement for BMW part #25117519669. Installation is simple when the shifter carrier is removed from the vehicle.

All Clutch Masters clutch kits come complete with:
This clutch kit does not include a flywheel.
Stock rubber flex discs allow for a slight amount of give, especially under heavy acceleration and, depending on the amount of force applied, could potentially tear or split. This slight flex/give can prevent instantaneous transfer of force to the wheels, making accelerations unpredictable, or even lead to your vehicle being stuck on the side of the track. To combat this, IRP's Performance Flex Disc was developed. Made of CNC machined aluminum, this flex disc won't actually flex, and the polyurethane bushings will only provide a enough give to dampen some vibrations and prevent damaging the transmission. This is perfect for high torque applications such a drag cars and dedicated track cars that want immediate response and long term reliability.
78mm Diameter with fitment for M10 nuts/bolts.

The factory center support carrier features an internal bushing constructed from soft, pliable rubber. While this provides a smooth and quiet ride for standard driving, it falls short in performance-oriented applications where durability and precision are critical. During acceleration, shifting, and under load, the rubber bushing's inherent flexibility allows for excessive driveshaft movement. Over time, repeated stress and wear on the rubber will cause bushing failure, risking poor driveshaft alignment and efficiency. In extreme cases, this failure will cause a constant rotational "clunking" noise, a clear indicator of impending failure.
The ECS Tuning Center Support Bearing Brace is designed to enhance the performance and longevity of your drivetrain. To improve upon the factory design, and to create a performance alternative, our engineers started by designing a set of exact-fit, split low durometer rubber bushings that clamp around your existing driveshaft bearing. Crafted from 30A durometer rubber, our material choice effectively eliminates bushing deflection without causing an increase in noise, vibration, and harshness. By eliminating deflection, this design ensures a longer lifespan than the stock center support bearing, making it a great investment for enthusiasts looking to maintain their aging BMW chassis.
The rubber bushings are encased in a high-strength 6061-T6 billet aluminum bracket, engineered for both durability and performance. Like the bushings, the bracket features a split design, allowing for seamless installation without the need to remove the entire driveshaft assembly, saving time and effort during maintenance or upgrades. To ensure reliable clamping and secure fastening, the bracket is equipped with two corrosion-resistant stainless steel socket head screws. This design simplifies bushing replacement and provides a dependable and sturdy hold, even under high torque and stress conditions.

ARP Flywheel Bolts are a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality. Each stud is heat-treated, ensuring complete heat penetration, to increase the clamping load up to 200,000 psi. ARP studs are threaded after heat-treat, which gives them 1000% (that's ten times!) better fatigue strength than studs threaded prior to heat-treat. Threading the studs after heat-treating is more difficult and costly (as it's harder on tooling) but the results are well worth the effort. These simply are the best bolts we've found and we highly recommend them in any and all applications.
ARP is a company that prides itself on performance and durability, no matter the application. Offering the finest engine hardware money can buy is the driving initiative at ARP and this is evidenced by the staggering amount of satisfied customers and race teams the world over.
