If you are removing or changing the front struts or springs or replacing the upper strut mount, NOW is the perfect time to replace this upper spring perch. BMW calls it a "upper spring pocket with axial cage bearing". It's really the upper spring plate with the radial bearing set sandwiched between two plastic collars. The bearing is there to allow the spring to rotate a little before going into a bind. If there are popping noises coming from the front strut it's probably because this bearing set is worn or missing. The bearing insert is a common wear item becoming noisy, gritty, or will just fail completely. You won't feel that they're bad from driving the car but you may hear clunking or popping sounds from the front struts. You can replace the rubber mounts on the car but don't leave this part out! It may be just as worn and you won't want to put them back in the car. These are sold individually, so be sure to get two for your car.

The radial bearing set is used in some of our camber plate designs. It's compact, light weight, easy to replace, and inexpensive. It's an excellent alternative to pricey and obscure ball bearing sets found in other camber plates.

Our renowned TMS adjustable front sway bar / swaybar links for BMWs are now available in custom lengths, making them easy to order for any aftermarket or custom suspension setups. Simply measure for your ideal link length, and order the links with the best length range (below). Each sway bar link has a 10mm diameter mounting pin/stud, which is the typical factory/stock size for a universal fitment. These are sold by the pair, and each set includes two matching sway bar end links.

These end links offer the quiet operation and long life of "stock" BMW end links, but with the strength and adjustability of rod-end style sway bar links. These sway bar links can be used on a wide variety of BMWs and aftermarket BMW suspensions. When measuring, please consider that the length ranges of our Custom Adjustable end links are measured from the center to center on the end link mounting stud / pin, as shown in our diagram.

Note for E9X M3: the unique mounting on the M3 strut requires a set of our adapter seats (#TSU9912AF9). You can add them with your links from the menu below.

BMW’s are known to have failure prone front thrust arm bushings.  The flexible rubber bushings, even those found in M performance models, allow significant movement of the front wheels to maximize daily driving comfort, but also allow considerable alignment change.  This results in a disconnected and numb road feel, standing between you and a confidence inspiring driving experience.  Eventually the fluid filled rubber bushings fatigue and crack due to continual deflection and ozone degradation, and eventually the damping fluid leaks out resulting in complete failure. 

For the enthusiast looking for superior performance and longevity with a crisp, confidence-inspiring driving experience, our sealed ball joint monoballs are the best solution available!  Our experience with spherical front control arm ball joints go back to those we designed and used in our IMSA E90 328i and E92 M3 racecars (GS class Champions in 2011).  We wanted to offer E31, E32, E34, E38, E39, E53, E60, E63, E64, and E83 owners similar levels of handling precision and control for the track and street.

It’s no secret that BMW’s suffer from weak, failure prone front thrust arm bushings.  The stock rubber bushings are designed to allow significant fore/aft movement of the front wheels and are fluid filled to help absorb road impacts.  This compliant design maximizes daily driving comfort and helps add to the “luxury” feeling of your BMW, but it also contributes to the numb, disconnected feeling that many enthusiasts complain about with modern BMW’s.  Not only is the OEM design far from ideal for the street or racing enthusiast that is looking for optimal handling and braking performance, the constant twisting and deflection required of the rubber bushing often causes premature failure, resulting in degraded handling, wheel shimmy, delayed steering response, delayed braking response, unwanted alignment change, and poor tire wear.

The stock aluminum sway bar brackets in the E39 5-Series suffer from a serious design flaw that has resulted in many people experiencing snapping and misshapen brackets, a mounting tab that is simply too weak. Not only was the OE bracket not designed to handle the loads required, but the aluminum construction was also easily fatigued over time, making an already questionable bracket weaker over time. This sub-par construction eventually leads to the mounting tab breaking off, releasing all tension on the sway bar, causing sloppy handling feel and knocking noises in the rear of your BMW. Luckily for all of us, the fix is simple. By swapping the construction from aluminum to steel, while maintaining all of the original dimensions, these brackets offer 3 times the mounting strength versus the OE brackets! This ensures that no matter how many track days or spirited weekends of driving your BMW sees, you can rest easy knowing your rear sway bar is securely mounted. To top it all off, these brackets are also zinc-coated, keeping away rust and corrosion for years. Why go steel E39 brackets instead of using E38 brackets? Fitment. Although the E38 bracket is a commonly suggested upgrade, it does require a bit of modification to fit properly and usually results in a bit of bushing compression, making your sway bar difficult to install.

This is the rear bump stop used in the E39 M5 and 2003 E39 540i M-Sport. There are a lot of bump stops for the E39 models and this one is one of the stiffest. Therefore it's a good fit for cars that have been lowered. However, cutting may be required on modified E39s to get the shock travel correct.

Is your E39 5-series not feeling as precise as it used to? Do you notice the car wandering more or a loose feeling when cornering? If your E39 has not had the rear suspension overhauled within the last 60,000 miles, your bushings and ball joints are most likely worn. The rubber bushings are the key to the E39's acclaimed ride and handling. When new, the bushings provide a comfortable ride but also contribute to the precise and taut handling. But when the rubber is worn, the motions of the suspension are no longer kept in check, which can lead to the tires running in various angles and directions.

We have put together this package of rear control arms, links, wishbones, guide rods, and ball joints for the E39 525i, 528i, 530i and 540i. These are the common wear points on the E39's rear suspension. We only used the correct OEM Lemforder or approved Meyle parts for this kit - nothing that doesn't meet our standards for fitment, performance, quality, and customer satisfaction. And no part substitutes - these are the parts that BMW calls for in your rear suspension.

BMW’s are known to have failure prone front thrust arm bushings.  The flexible rubber bushings, even those found in M performance models, allow significant movement of the front wheels to maximize daily driving comfort, but also allow considerable alignment change.  This results in a disconnected and numb road feel, standing between you and a confidence inspiring driving experience. Eventually the fluid filled rubber bushings fatigue and crack due to continual deflection and ozone degradation, and eventually the damping fluid leaks out resulting in complete failure.

For the enthusiast looking for superior performance and longevity with a crisp, confidence-inspiring driving experience, our sealed ball joint monoballs are the best solution available!  Our experience with spherical front control arm ball joints goes back to those we designed and used in our IMSA E90 328i and E92 M3 race cars (GS class Champions in 2011). We wanted to offer as many BMW owners possible a similar level of handling, precision, and control for the track and street.

Utilizing a sealed OEM BMW ball joint for exceptional quality and durability, making them completely at home on both the street and track with no compromise.  We have done extensive street, autocross, and track testing to ensure the ball joint used in this bushing design excels in each setting. The advantage of a sealed ball joint is that it eliminates all unwanted deflection while still allowing complete bind-free movement throughout suspension travel, resulting in exceptional control of wheel alignment.  What you get is superior steering precision, turn-in response, direct braking feedback, and better handling.

We offer these control arms with the monoball bearings pre-installed for your convenience. Since BMW recommends the control arms be replaced for every other bushing change, we prefer to sell these as a pre-assembled set. The bushings are also available separately if you wish to source your own control arms.

The aluminum sway bar brackets on the rear of E39 models have a tendancy to snap. It's not a widespread problem but we have seen it a few times, on stock and upgraded sway bars. The stock bracket is soft aluminum and as it flexes it can snap. These upgraded bushing brackets are from the E38 7-series (and others) and are much stronger - and cheaper! - than E39 brackets. They are a direct replacement with the original hardware, however, upgraded urethane bushings may need some material trimmed away to fit better. Price is for the pair of steel brackets.
