You will find either 6 or 8 E10 bolts are holding the harmonic balancer depending on the engine.

Knock down the roadblocks preventing you from performing regular maintenance on your BMW. On the E9x and E8x chassis you run into issues with changing the rear spark plugs and coil packs. A job that should take approximately an hour or so ends up taking significantly longer because you have to remove the cowl and all associated screws. Most of the time the screws end up missing or dropped into your engine bay which can be a headache and you have to order new hardware or deal with the cowl being incorrectly fastened.

Cowl delete filters are a great addition to your E9x or E8x chassis; these filters allow you to get rid of clutter in the engine bay which adds benefits like weight reduction, improved air flow in the engine bay, more room for working on the engine and an overall cleaner engine bay appearance. BMW’s Getrag GS7D36SG Dual-Clutch Transmission is a masterpiece of engineering. It's renowned for its rapid gear changes, robust construction, and direct, motorsport-inspired feel. While the transmission itself delivers exceptional performance, its supporting components don’t always keep pace. The factory plastic oil pan and limited oil capacity compromise cooling efficiency and long-term reliability, especially during high-performance use. With this in mind, we set out to engineer a solution that elevates durability, thermal management, and fluid control to match the transmission’s world-class performance.

We've designed a permanent, high-performance replacement for the flawed OEM pan: a cast-aluminum, increased-capacity upgrade that enhances cooling and durability. Its all-aluminum construction provides a significant upgrade over the OE plastic pan, which is prone to cracking when impacted by road debris. Engineered for those who demand more from their vehicle, our design increases fluid capacity to promote superior cooling and help maintain optimal transmission temperatures, even in the most demanding conditions.

To ensure a leak-free seal, we engineered a heavy-duty Viton gasket specific to their transmission pan design. The Viton material provides exceptional reliability under high temperatures and resists deformation—a common failure point of the factory rubber gasket. For further protection, integrated magnets actively attract and hold metal debris that could otherwise compromise the transmission's longevity. This innovative design keeps your fluid clean and extends the overall life of your drivetrain.

Our High-Capacity DCT Transmission Pan was designed, engineered, tested, and quality inspected by our Research and Development team in our Wadsworth, Ohio, facility. We strive for the highest level of precision and quality through leading-edge product development technology, including FARO laser scanning for reverse engineering and quality inspection, SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping utilizing our in-house 3D printer, and rigorous long-term product testing.

The N54 suffers from a weak point in its crankshaft. It has been reported that when increasing the power to the engine, the crank hub can move or spin slightly under an extreme load. This is most apparent under high-rev downshifts or in the case of increased boost pressure which creates more stress on the engines rotating assembly. In order to keep this from happening, the crank bolt must be secured to the hub to keep it from backing off, but this can be a tricky solution since a simple dab of Loctite will not suffice. 

Here is an easy, and cost-effective way to secure the situation; The VTT N54 crank bolt capture. This lightweight and durable ring slips over the head of the crank bolt fully encapsulating it, and locks it to the crank hub and eliminating its ability to spin. The VTT-CBC is 100% Billet Aircraft Grade Aluminum, Anodized black to protect it from the elements, and give it a stealth look. What's more is that it weighs only 1.3 Oz's meaning you aren't adding excess mass to the crankshaft which will avoid any imbalance or vibration issues.

While this is not a full fix for all crank hub spinning issues, the engineers at Vargas have found most issues have stemmed from the bolt itself backing out, and this is a great way to keep that from happening. Extremely lightweight at only 1.3 Oz's it adds virtually no weight to the crank which is important for balance and vibration.
