The N5X family of engines marked the start of a new era for BMW. The all-new aluminum block powerplants featured a host of technical upgrades, aiding in power output, reliability, and performance. From factory, the N52's electronic water pump is limited to a measly 200W output—strong enough for daily driving, but lacking in performance applications.
