The factory BMW charge pipes are prone to cracking, as they are made from brittle plastic. Here at Turner, we sell several brands of replacement charge pipes that are typically made from cast aluminum. We recommend upgrading to hard charge pipes even on stock forced induction vehicles to avoid cracking - we've seen cracking occur on high mileage cars running stock power just as frequently as we do with high horsepower builds.
This set of aluminum pipes replace the brittle factory plastic pipe which can fail under increased boost pressure, or simply under spirited driving. In addition, The increased diameter helps to reduce turbulence and maximize airflow into the engine. Changing both the charge pipe and turbo outlet or "boost pipe" allows the engine to reliably hold any amount of boost that's required, and alleviates the headache of having to do the job twice.
