BMW Intake Parts for BMW 3 Series E90 (2006-2011)

All of the tuning in the world is only as good as the weakest link. More boost in your 135/335 is great! But you will soon learn that some of the factory hardware is not up to the task of handling that extra pressure. One of the first things to fail and cause a boost leak are the factory boost diverter valves. This allows boost to "leak" out of the intake stream and a loss of power from the engine. This ECS Tuning chargepipe upgrade includes a blow-off valve in place of the factory diverter valves. The BOV is higher quality than the diverter valves and will exit intake air to the outside instead of putting it back through the turbo system (which will reduce strain on the turbos). This aluminum chargepipe is also much more robust than the stock plastic factory pipe and the connection to the throttle body is stronger, eliminating another failure point of the stock pipe.

Built-in 1/8" NPT ports allow you to run an additional methanol injection kit (bungs included if you don't want use the ports).

The factory plastic gears in BMW S65 throttle body actuators are notorious for premature wear due to mechanical stress, engine vibration, and heat cycling. Over time, this wear leads to excessive play, throttle response issues, and eventual failure. This can cause DME fault codes, limp mode, and DSC malfunctions. While replacing both throttle actuators is costly, even new OEM units will eventually suffer the same fate.

These Upgraded Throttle Body Actuator Gears are constructed of Teflon-reinforced nylon, significantly reducing friction and gear tooth wear for long-term reliability. Each gear comes pre-installed on a 4140 steel shaft, strengthening the assembly and preventing further failure.

Servicing the internals of S65 throttle body actuators can be a challenging task due to their intricate design. To simplify the process, ECS has developed a complete plug-and-play replacement kit. This kit includes two brand-new OEM Continental/VDO throttle body actuator assemblies, rebuilt with upgraded ECS gears and shafts for simplified installation and long-term durability. Unlike rebuilt actuators, this solution minimizes the risk of internal electrical failures, providing superior protection against common failure modes.

The carbon fiber sandwiches a special heat-blocking fiberglass core, insulating the air box from engine bay heat. All of this combines to produce more power and torque over a wider RPM range - up to 13ft-lbs and 18hp when combined with a Cobb software tune, FMIC, and exhaust. This is a 1/2" (fits -8AN hos perfectly as well) CNC Billet check valve that can be used for a variety of uses including a vacuum/boost check valve when removing the stock PCV system, and still wanting to run the vacuum to the crankcase. Rated at over 100 psi, with a cracking psi of .25psi.

In addition to the weak stock chargepipe, the factory N54 diverter valves can also be a source for boost leaks. The diverter valve takes overboost and re-directs it back through the intake and turbos instead of allowing it to pass into the intake manifold. It's the same as a blow off valve (BOV) but instead of releasing into the engine bay, it stays contained to the engine. The stock diverter valves (DV) are plastic and connect with more plastic into the chargepipe and turbo inlet pipes. The plastic can become brittle and crack even on stock engines and leak boost, which leads to a loss in power and performance.

Turbosmart has developed two kits to replace and upgrade the stock diverter valves - a direct replacement kit (shown) and a combination DV/BOV "Dual Port" kit. This direct replacement kit includes new high-performance DV and stronger silicone hose to connect them to the turbo inlet pipes (Vargas silicone inlets are recommended). Air filter service at recommended intervals lets an engine breathe properly while protecting it from costly damage. Air filters should be inspected and replaced as needed at least once a year, more often if the vehicle is driven in heavily polluted or dusty conditions.
