Pulleys begin to squeak once they are reaching the end of their life span and the tensioners can fail, no longer applying enough tension to the accessory belt. The N54 suffers from a weak point in its crankshaft. It has been reported that when increasing the power to the engine, the crank hub can move or spin slightly under an extreme load. This is most apparent under high-rev downshifts or in the case of increased boost pressure which creates more stress on the engines rotating assembly. In order to keep this from happening, the crank bolt must be secured to the hub to keep it from backing off, but this can be a tricky solution since a simple dab of Loctite will not suffice. 

Here is an easy, and cost-effective way to secure the situation; The VTT N54 crank bolt capture. This lightweight and durable ring slips over the head of the crank bolt fully encapsulating it, and locks it to the crank hub and eliminating its ability to spin. The VTT-CBC is 100% Billet Aircraft Grade Aluminum, Anodized black to protect it from the elements, and give it a stealth look. What's more is that it weighs only 1.3 Oz's meaning you aren't adding excess mass to the crankshaft which will avoid any imbalance or vibration issues.

While this is not a full fix for all crank hub spinning issues, the engineers at Vargas have found most issues have stemmed from the bolt itself backing out, and this is a great way to keep that from happening. Extremely lightweight at only 1.3 Oz's it adds virtually no weight to the crank which is important for balance and vibration.

The most common reason fuel pumps fail is a plugged or restricted fuel filter, which makes the pump work harder. When a fuel pump starts to go bad, you may experience lack of power, no start, bucking, sputtering, or the engine may stop running. This is an OEM INA Idler Pulley, also known as the roller pulley or deflection pulley. The idler pulleys are known to be the primary sources for 'belt squealing'. The pulley is also encased in rubber which will crack over time. If left without service the rubber could fail completely, chucking the belt and leaving you stranded. Replacement is a very simple procedure and can be done anytime the fan is off the engine (belt replacement, water pump service, alternator replacement, etc).

BMW N63 4.4L Vent Pipe

The BMW N63 4.4L Vent Pipe addresses common issues with oil separators freezing in cold weather conditions. This problem often occurs if the vehicle is driven before it is fully warmed up, leading to a howling noise and multiple oil leaks. The crankcase breather valve in the vent pipe purges oil vapor from the engine block into the valve cover. This is an OEM Mahle oil filter replacement oil filter kit for vehicles with the N63 & N74 engines. The oil filter prevents contaminants from reaching the engine and causing premature failure. Replace your filter at all recommended service intervals to ensure a long engine life.

The head gasket is exposed to high pressure and heat for extremely long periods of time. Over a long period of time, these may develop a slight oil leak and must be replaced ASAP to prevent damage to the engine.
