But, to make the job easier for the professionals, ensuring that the required crank modifications are made safely and accurately, the MMX kit also includes a full installation jig that includes a bolt-on drilling guide, a location bolt for this guide, plus an HSS rolled high-speed drill bit. Together, the single-piece design combined with the four-pin location ensures that there is simply no way that the friction plates can ever slip. With the new OE crank bolt tightened appropriately, this delivers a transformational improvement in reliability and peace of mind versus the OE version. Also included is the MMR Crank Bolt Capture Plate. This adds one additional layer of defense, preventing the crank bolt from being able to back out and loosen over time, ensuring everything is tightly held together as intended.

This is an OEM replacement rear (bank 2) turbo assembly for the N54 engine in the 2007-2012 740 and X6 35i. This is a new turbo from Mitsubishi, not a rebuilt unit. Mitsubishi is the original supplier to BMW for the N54 turbos. This is a complete assembly, including the manifold to the engine and the wastegate. It's highly likely N54 turbos will have to be replaced before 100,000 miles. Signs of a failing turbo are high oil consumption and blue smoke from exhaust (not from a leak or failing CCV system) because the internal oil seals are no longer retaining oil. Without critical lubrication and cooling effects from oil, the turbo shafts and bearings are usually the first to wear and that requires a complete rebuild. You might also see increased turbo lag or failure to hold boost, which is usually a sign of a failing wastegate or some other internal issue. With any internal problems, the turbos need to be replaced. This is a new turbo - No core charge.

Athena-SCE's gasket body is composed of Motorgasket, a reinforced material developed by Athena's R&D department. This consists of a steel core covered with two layers of asbestos-free aramid fibre and offers excellent thermal and mechanical resistance without compromising its ability to adapt to mating surfaces. To ensure maximum sealing under all conditions, a silicone bead is also applied to critical sealing areas, such as oil and coolant passages. The AISI 304 stainless steel cooper rings bite into the aluminum head, providing maximum sealing around the cylinder bore and optimizing engine performance, even on engines with nitrous and/or turbo applications that exceed 2 bar boost. Please be aware that the gasket should be 0.5mm to 1mm larger than the piston. For example, if the piston measures 84mm, then the gasket should be the next size up, either 84.5mm or 85mm. Before installation, it is crucial to have the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and block professionally cleaned and resurfaced to ensure they are completely flat. Sold as a set - Includes Bank 1 and Bank 2 Gaskets Make sure that the engine block and cylinder head surfaces are clean, flat, and free from any debris, oil, or coolant. Install the Cut Ring gasket on the engine block and ensure that it is properly aligned. Avoid twisting or bending the gasket during installation. Place the cylinder head on top of the gasket and install the head bolts or studs in their correct positions. Follow the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications and tighten the bolts or studs in the proper sequence to ensure even clamping force across the gasket. After the initial tightening, re-torque the head bolts or studs after the engine has been started and then allowed to cool to room temperature. This will ensure that the gasket is properly seated and compressed. It is recommended to not use any additional sealant on the MLX gasket, as it is already coated with a Viton rubber sealant. Using additional sealant can hinder the performance of the gasket.

Anyone with a modified N54 knows the risks involved. Upping the performance of any engine can come with some inherent risk; if we add more boost but not fuel, detonation will occur (or worse). Furthermore, improper installation, maintenance, or operation can turn a perfectly healthy engine into a paperweight. The worst failures, however, are the ones we don't plan for. When the engine simply can't handle the stresses its put under, or the design is such that it simply does not support extreme conditions. Enter the N54 crank hub. The engineers at Vargas saw and dealt with this problem time and again, and they saw fit to do something about it. This hub uses a proprietary "Spline Lock" technology that uses high tolerance machined splines that press into the crank and positively lock the hub to the crank. The splines are machined in such a way that rotational forces drive the hub, and splines deeper into the crank meaning when the hub encounters a situation that would normally slip a stock hub the splined hub is driven into the crank to keep it in place (much like a splined extractor). Vargas spent many months testing, and retesting this design, utilizing well over 10 different samples to come to the final production version. During testing, the final hub managed to break the testing rig before slipping. These have been bench-tested, and real-world tested on the VTT N54 race car spinning 8K RPM, and making well over 900WHP. This is an OEM replacement front (bank 1) turbo assembly for the N54 engine in the 2007-2012 740 and X6 35i. This is a new turbo from Mitsubishi, not a rebuilt unit. Mitsubishi is the original supplier to BMW for the N54 turbos. This is a complete assembly, including the manifold to the engine and the wastegate. It's highly likely N54 turbos will have to be replaced before 100,000 miles. Signs of a failing turbo are high oil consumption and blue smoke from exhaust (not from a leak or failing CCV system) because the internal oil seals are no longer retaining oil. Without critical lubrication and cooling effects from oil, the turbo shafts and bearings are usually the first to wear and that requires a complete rebuild. You might also see increased turbo lag or failure to hold boost, which is usually a sign of a failing wastegate or some other internal issue. With any internal problems, the turbos need to be replaced. This is a new turbo - No core charge.

Anyone with a modified N54 knows the risks involved. Upping the performance of any engine can come with some inherent risk; if we add more boost but not fuel, detonation will occur (or worse). Furthermore, improper installation, maintenance, or operation can turn a perfectly healthy engine into a paperweight. The worst failures, however, are the ones we don't plan for.
