• Ideal for Maintenance: A practical choice for enthusiasts who prefer to change the timing chain independently of a full kit.

This is an OEM INA Idler Pulley, also known as the roller pulley or deflection pulley. The idler pulleys are known to be the primary sources for 'belt squealing'. The pulley is also encased in rubber which will crack over time. If left without service the rubber could fail completely, chucking the belt and leaving you stranded. Replacement is a very simple procedure and can be done anytime the fan is off the engine (belt replacement, water pump service, alternator replacement, etc).

OEM Schaeffler (INA, LuK, & FAG) is an engineering company that focuses on high-performance, precision manufacturing. This eccentric shaft is a vital component of your BMW's N55 Valvetronic system, responsible for precise control of valve lift. In the N55 engine, the Valvetronic system uses intermediate levers between the camshaft and lifters to adjust valve lift dynamically. These levers are actuated by this eccentric shaft, which is rotated by an electronically controlled motor under the direction of the engine computer.

Eccentric shaft failure is a common issue in N55 engines, often caused by inadequate lubrication due to extended oil change intervals. The most frequent failure occurs when the eccentric shaft gear wears down, leading to disengagement from the motor's worm drive. Symptoms include multiple fault codes, such as P1014 (Shaft Parity Error), P1017 (Shaft Sensor Plausibility), P1023 (Valvetronic Adjustment Range), and P10E1 (Valvetronic System No Travel Detected).

If your BMW is experiencing Valvetronic-related fault codes, a failing eccentric shaft could be the source of the problem. Opt for this premium direct replacement from Bremmen Parts to restore your Valvetronic system's functionality and ensure a durable, high-quality repair.
