Turbo inlet pipes serve two very distinct, and differing, purposes. On one hand, the optimization of a turbo inlet pipe will encourage better turbo efficiency and responsiveness by allowing the turbo to ingest more air by way of an unobstructed and larger volume flow path. On the other, you have a more visceral benefit that some may argue is equally important than that of efficiency/flow optimization --- increased sound. No matter which of the distinct purposes is favored, Dinan will deliver on both. Regardless of application, a Dinan turbo inlet replaces the weak, and failure-prone, plastic factory inlet with a more robust carbon fiber one. CNC machined fittings are utilized to ensure proper fitment and guarantee installation as a direct replacement to the OEM inlet. Beyond material and fitment however are the improvements to the characteristics of the primary element in the system, the pipe itself. The stock turbo inlet has incorporated additional features (multiple in some cases) that introduce flow restrictions and turbulence while also reducing turbo noises. All of which are unwanted but easily rectified by removing the various resonators and enlarging (and optimizing) the path for a more uniform flow. The result is an inlet that delivers not only more air and allows the turbo to be more efficient (work less) but also provides the oft-desired amplification to the turbo induction soundtrack. Features: Increased turbo efficiency and reliability courtesy of maximum unimpeded and uniform airflow. Eliminates the factory sound resonator for increased turbo vocalization. More Flow: Up to 24% greater than stock. 24% increase in overall volume over OEM inlet. Average of 10.8% larger internal diameter throughout (maximum cross-sectional area allowed). Carbon fiber construction for increased durability and visual appeal. Direct replacement of OEM turbo inlet. Quick and easy bolt-on installation. Dinan Factory Matching (4yr/50k) Warranty Emissions Note: This part is legal under the provisions of EPA’s Tampering Policy dated November 23rd, 2020. The company has reasonable basis (test results) to verify that this product allows the vehicle to operate within legal emissions standards and is therefore legal to be sold for on-street use in all states that accept the legal provisions of the Clean Air Act and the EPA Tampering Policy. This product is NOT LEGAL FOR SALE OR USE IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. Testing with the California Air Resources Board, in order to achieve 50-state compliance, is pending with CARB. Once testing is complete with California, and an E.O. number is issued, this product will be updated to 50-state legal status.

For the racing enthusiast or those just looking for the best, this is the ultimate upgrade to fully maximize the power output of your EWG N55 engine. The compressor wheel inside the turbocharger is increased in size allowing ~30% greater flow thus enabling additional boost pressures at higher engine speeds while retaining efficiency.These are fully cast turbos that are manufactured to Dinan specifications along with an upgraded thrust system over the stock turbo to ensure reliable and prolonged life. In order to attain maximum advertised power gains these big turbos will need to be paired with DINANTRONICS Stage 4, as well as Dinan’s intercooler to fully regulate the boost increase and deliver a polished product although the exhaust and intake are also recommended. 

Benefits of the Dinan Big Turbo for the EWG N55 Engine:

  • Fully cast turbo that is manufactured to Dinan specifications with an upgraded thrust system thereby avoiding lengthy turnaround times caused by a core exchange program. 
  •  Larger billet compressor/impeller wheel that allows ~30% greater flow over stock which then enables additional boost to be realized while retaining efficiency.
  • Turbo assembly is compatible with electric wastegate vehicles only.
  • Peak power: 445 HP @ 6000 RPM and 455 ft-lbs @ 3000 RPM and a max gain of 128 HP @ 6000 RPM and 113 ft-lbs @ 6000 RPM when coupled with other Dinan Performance upgrades. (Data from F22 M235i.) 448 HP @ 6500 RPM and 417 ft-lbs @ 3000 RPM and a max gain of 152 HP @ 6500 RPM and 123 ft-lbs @ 6500 RPM when coupled with other Dinan Performance upgrades. (Data from F32 435i. Other variants may differ.) 
  •  Dinan Installation instructions detail a procedure which is quicker than BMW's turbo replacement procedure saving the end-user money and time at the shop (Applicable to RWD vehicles only). 
  • Includes o-rings and gaskets needed for complete installation on a RWD vehicle only. If installing on an xDrive vehicle Dinan P/N D313-0117 is required for additional installation hardware.
