If you have to drop or pull your transmission for any reason, the input and output shaft seals are one of the best "while it's out" maintenance items you can replace. Worn out shaft seals can allow transmission fluid to leak out, possibly shortening its life if the fluid level gets too low. This repair kit includes the basic components needed to replace both the front and rear seals.

As per ZF's recommendations, Turner Motorsport suggests performing a full service on your 8HP automatic transmission every 50,000 miles. If your vehicle is modified and makes more power than stock or if your vehicle is regularly track-driven, we recommend shorter 30,000-mile service intervals. This will ensure your transmission's fluid is free from contamination which will help extend the life of internal transmission components like clutch packs and solenoids.

It combines mechanical and electronic elements to control various functions of the transmission system, including gear shifting, clutch engagement, and torque distribution. The mechatronics unit contains sensors, solenoids, valves, processors, and other electronic components that work together to manage the transmission's operation. It receives input signals from various sensors throughout the vehicle, such as speed sensors, throttle position sensors, and engine load sensors, to determine the optimal gear selection and timing for shifting. If your mechatronics unit has a failed component, the whole unit must be replaced as BMW does not provide individual components.
