Wagner Competition intercoolers (#200001071) are engineered in Germany to be a superior N20/N55 intercooler than the factory part. With 85% more surface area and 90% more volume than the factory IC the Wagner-designed kit is much more efficient. And that helps maintain your boost levels and performance! The factory intercooler is quickly overcome with heat and that leads to a loss of boost and performance. Factor in greater boost levels and other modifications and the more heat soak will put you out of the running. The solution is an intercooler with more capacity for cooling and the best intercooler upgrade is one that not only works but also installs with a minimum amount of fuss. 

This competition intercooler kit utilizes a tube fin center core unit, for cooler temperatures and less pressure drop. This is for ideal for owners who are going to install a tuner, build a competition car or operate in hot climates. This can be used on the street, track, and for an everyday driving and will allow cooler temps and more air flow through the core!

One of the best features of this kit is that it's a direct bolt-on replacement for your stock intercooler - no removing the bumper or modifying brackets or wrestling with plumbing. Wagner has also engineered their end-tanks in aluminum instead of the factory plastic, which is much more durable over the long term. The CAD and FEM process also allows them to design their cooler internals without any bottlenecks or restrictions. This is just the best all-around intercooler upgrade we have seen for the F30 335! Fits both N20 and N55 cars.

The factory B4x/B58 heat exchanger is not built to cater to the rigorous demands often associated with a modified build. The thin core is easily overwhelmed with IAT's rising dramatically once pushed beyond a few successive WOT pulls or even a few minutes at the track. This elevation in temperature gives way to the factory ECU fail safes pulling timing and reducing overall power in order to keep the system from overheating to the point of permanent damage. On an application where enjoyment is directly attributed to pushing the platform to its limits this constraint to cooling presents a challenge for the automotive enthusiast. The Dinan B4x/B58 heat exchanger for the F2x/F3x chassis assists in mitigating these issues with a more robust core (48mm thick Dinan core vs. 27mm thick OEM core) that wields 78% more heat transfer surface area for improved cooling capacity. The significant increase in core thickness requires unique "L" shaped end tanks to be incorporated as well, which also contributes to the overall thermal mass (ability to absorb, store, and release heat) improvement beyond the OEM setup. With up to a 15° IAT delta recorded over stock the Dinan heat exchanger is ready, and able, to assist in extending your vehicles ability to deliver maximum performance time and time again for your driving enjoyment! When modifying the car and increasing boost, installing an upgraded intercooler is essential to keep the engine computer from restraining boost as temperatures climb. The stock air-air intercooler is quickly overcome with heat and can't keep the intake air cool enough. If it's too hot the engine computer will reduce power to safer levels. This Dinan intercooler is a dual-core air-air design with an astounding 240% more surface area than the factory intercooler. The temperature at boost is 60% cooler at 6,250 RPM with the Dinan Dual Core compared to stock. Even heat soak at low speeds is reduced, making this a worthwhile addition even for stock or mildly tuned engines. Professional installation is strongly recommended as bumper removal is required and several pieces in the front end need to be cut and trimmed. The factory charge piping in and out of the intercooler is re-used.

The 2.0 Liter B48B20 and 3.0 Liter B58B30M0 turbo engine of the specified BMW models is equipped with an indirect charge-air cooling circuit. So the cooling of the charged air is not realized by the ambient air as a cooling medium (as usual), but made with its own cooling water circuit. A reduction of the temperature of the cooling water is directly equated with an improved cooling performance of the charged air. This is exactly where the advantages of the WAGNERTUNING upgrade radiator comes into play. The newly developed competition racing core of the WAGNERTUNING high-performance radiator increase the radiator volume of the OEM water cooler by a total of 117 %. The calculated ratio between the inner and outer cooling surface generates a maximum heat transfer and allows at the same time enough airflow for the surrounding components (for example the engine radiator) for its own heat exchange. Furthermore, using an increased amount of cooling water, the entire system thermics can be kept at a lower level over a longer period of time. All WAGNERTUNING radiators are equipped with a heat-conductive anti-corrosion coating to ensure a lasting cooling effect.
