Presenting the perfect addition to our X5M, XM intake system to optimize the flow path all the way to the turbos. Our carbon inlets have a larger volume than the stock inlets by maintaining a larger diameter all the way to the turbos. The stock inlets narrow down immediately after the connection to the intake which creates a restriction especially at higher boost levels. We have alleviated this restriction and also designed the curvature to be as smooth as possible allowing the turbos to function with reduced resistance. Made from prepreg carbon fiber with CNC machined flanges, the inlets also provide an aesthetic improvement to the engine bay. Benefits of the inlets are apparent with tuned vehicles where the boost pressure is higher and therefore the flow demand form the turbos is greater. This is where the larger volume of the carbon inlets help provide that extra flow. The performance gains are produced from providing the turbos with a less resistive flow path which allows them to reach peak boost sooner in the RPM range. When comparing to the stock inlets the differences are clear to see. Where the stock tubes narrow down immediately after the connection to the intakes, our tubes maintain a larger diameter and the reduction to the stock turbos is achieved with an internal radius on the machined flanges. This allows for larger volume whilst maintaining a smooth flow path. One of the drawbacks of the oversized inlets was the more aggressive reduction in size to match the stock turbos which created some flow constraints. Uses a factory solenoid coil for seamless integration Replaces plastic valve parts with metal for reliability and strength – especially important on tuned engines Direct-fit replacement with GFB’s TMS benefits Exclusive “pilot-actuated” valve mechanism for rapid response at high boost GFB expands the DV+ range with a direct-fit solution for the weak factory diverter valve used on many European vehicles. The solenoid coil itself from the factory-fitted valve is great the ECU opens it faster than any pneumatic valve so why replace it? The weak point, however, is the valve mechanism itself. GFB’s DV+ solves this problem by replacing the valve parts with an anodized billet aluminum housing, fitted with a brass piston machined to exact tolerances. The result is sharper throttle response and lightning-fast valve actuation, and it will hold as much boost as you can throw at it. Read all about the DV+ story below. Other manufacturers’ products involve replacing the entire system with a traditional pneumatic valve or include a solenoid valve with the diverter. These approaches add unnecessary cost and additional parts (in some cases requiring long vacuum hose runs, mounting brackets, etc). This is an OEM replacement left side (bank 2) turbo assembly for the S63 engine. This is a new turbo from Garrett, not a rebuilt unit. This is a complete assembly, including the manifold to the engine and the wastegate. Signs of a failing turbo are high oil consumption and blue smoke from the exhaust (not from a leak or failing CCV system) because the internal oil seals are no longer retaining oil. Without critical lubrication and cooling effects from oil, the turbo shafts and bearings are usually the first to wear and that requires a complete rebuild. You might also see increased turbo lag or failure to hold boost, which is usually a sign of a failing wastegate or some other internal issue. With any internal problems, the turbos need to be replaced. This is a new turbo - No core charge.
