Headers should be part of any M20 performance project or restoration. These Supersprint tubular headers are a larger diameter and have better flow than the stock exhaust manifolds and they make more power. And since the stock headers are known to be brittle and can crack over time these make for an excellent upgrade replacement.
This header system features an X-pipe after the headers to improve exhaust flow and scavenging. The X-pipe helps the exhaust gas mix and then flow into the rest of the exhaust. This header system has a bend in the outlets from the X-pipe to fit to the stock E30 catalytic converter (cut the stock E30 downpipes and these clamp in place). This makes them a direct swap from the stock manifolds and downpipes and an easy fitment for E30s with the stock exhaust.

A good header design is key to unlocking performance gains from naturally aspirated motors. At Supersprint every header is designed, developed and manufactured within our factory in Mantova, Italy.
With performance gains the main objective, we study and design primary and secondary piping configurations with varying diameters and lengths. These are then tested on our in-house MAHA Dynamometer enabling us to recognise the optimum setup. We also ensure the 02 sensor bungs remain in their original position for ideal fitting.
Supersprint headers are manufactured using industry leading techniques from the best German 304 and 310S stainless steel with piping thickness variable from 1 to 1.5mm, along with CNC machined, hi-precision laser cut flanges built from 409 and 304 steel for perfect fitment and longevity. The joints are TIG welded in order to guarantee strength and durability. For temperature critical, delicate applications we also use Inconel for some of our products.
These materials and processes ensure Supersprint headers are extremely high quality, durable products that offer true, tangible performance gains.

Supersprint tubular long-tube headers for the 96-99 328i and M3 that works with the factory secondary air pump. These use the same tubular header design of the OBD-I Supersprint header but with the necessary ports for the secondary air injection so you won't need an air pump delete kit or special software. These are still long-tube headers that make great power at high RPM. They fit with the Supersprint center resonator or by cutting your factory cat section so these can slide on.

Here the factory tubes are crushed in size and joined in narrow housing ahead of the catalytic converters. Supersprint has designed a fully tubular header and collector system that is fully mandrel bent and makes no compromises. They even patented the design. With a complete exhaust system, we recorded gains of over 60hp! These headers can be connected to either a factory secondary cat or a Supersprint high-flow metallic cat.

Supersprint's tubular stainless headers for the X5 4.8 N62 engine replace the very restrictive stock manifolds and cats. With less restriction creating better flow, and relocating the catalytic converters, Supersprint has been able to gain an additional 21hp and 38ft-lbs of torque. They've even patented their tubular header and collector design. These are a direct bolt on to the N62 engine and are designed to be used with the Supersprint metallic sport cats or as a cat-less system (straight pipes). Other pieces are recommended or required.

One area where the US M5/M6 is different than a more-powerful Euro-spec model is in the exhaust. The US M5/M6 got a header design with smaller pipes that is more restrictive. These Supersprint headers are based on the Euro design (no longer available through BMW USA) but are slightly larger tubes for better performance. The stepped design is a favorite of M3 header designs and originated in Formula 1 engines. Fitment note: this system is based on the Euro design with 3-bolt flanges (the US used 2-bolt flanges). You will need the factory Euro center section or the Supersprint center section for this to be a direct bolt on. We recommend using this with the full Supersprint system (front center pipes, rear center resonator, and rear muffler) for the easiest install and the best sound.
