This Supersprint center resonator is tuned to work with their muffler system to provide an aggressive but not wildly loud exhaust note. Supersprint makes two center section options - with or without a resonator. When planning your exhaust layout this will likely be the final section to choose. If you're deleting the secondary cats for more power you may want to opt for the tuned resonator to keep the exhaust note quieter. If you won't be deleting your secondary cats, opening up the resonator with straight pipes will allow more sound to come through. Or run with no cats and no resonator for the biggest - and loudest - power gains.

This twin pipe system utilizes two high flow pipes instead of a single large pipe, allowing for up to 25% greater total exhaust flow. Thanks to the increased total flow, these center pipes are capable of supporting S54 engines producing over 400whp, perfect for all highly modified street cars or performance track vehicles.

The Supersprint Crossover Pipe will delete the rear resonator ahead of the rear mufflers. By removing the resonator, you can get more volume and growl from your exhaust as well as decrease exhaust restriction for slightly better power and torque. Deleting resonators makes a small but noticeable increase in overall volume so it's recommended that this is done after changing or removing mufflers. This x-pipe fits in section 2 of the exhaust - after the factory secondary cat section and before the rear mufflers. It's a direct install with Supersprint mufflers but any other set of mufflers may require custom professional installation to achieve a perfect fit.

But if noise and volume is a strong consideration for you then using resonators is a good idea. If you were building a track car with headers and no cats then resonators will help keep noise levels low. This section is 309 stainless steel and 70mm diameter pipes (a little bigger than the factory size) so this piece will flow better and be a little louder than the factory resonator.

The Supersprint X-Pipe will delete the set of resonators ahead of the rear mufflers. By removing the resonators, you can get more volume and growl from your exhaust as well as decrease exhaust restriction for slightly better power and torque. Deleting resonators makes a small but noticeable increase in overall volume and also changes the sound with a little more rasp and rip. This x-pipe fits in section 2 of the exhaust - after the factory secondary cat section and before the rear mufflers. It's also a full 70mm diameter - slightly larger than the stock piping. You will need to cut the original resonator section out of the exhaust and the Supersprint is clamped into place.

Supersprint works closely with HJS to spec a catalytic converter that is correct for the vehicle and engine package. This allows for a substantial increase in flow but which, at the same time, keeps the environmental specs within European limits. With any high-flow catalytic converter, special software or other work may be required to keep emissions fault codes and check engine lights from displaying. Supersprint catalytic converters are sold for track and other off-road uses only.

Fitment Note: These sport cats were designed to be used only with the Supersprint section 2 x-pipe (p/n 980713) and Supersprint rear mufflers. Custom fabrication by an exhaust professional will be required to use these without the Supersprint exhaust sections. These cats include post-cat O2 sensor ports allowing for a complete installation by extending your original post-cat O2 sensors to the new location. Special Race software or module may still be required to keep the SES light and fault codes from appearing.
This product modifies (but does not remove or defeat) emissions equipment. For this reason this product may not be CARB compliant, and therefore not emissions legal in some states. After Supersprint headers is the E38 section 1 exhaust. The stock section 1 contains a set of restrictive catalytic converters. For off-road or competition use Supersprint offers cat-delete Test Pipes or sport metallic catalytic converters. With improved flow from larger piping and less-restrictive cat performance and throttle response will increase as well as increase sound and reduced weight. The straight-flow cat design allows much better flow than the stock cats, giving a significant horsepower and torque gain and a throaty sound. Supersprint section 1 are a direct fit to Supersprint headers but will not fit with stock exhaust manifolds. A Supersprint section 2 is recommended after these.

Supersprint Section 1 Details:
This is a race exhaust system which deletes stock cats or uses sport catalyzers designed for maximum flow while still reducing vehicle emissions. This part alters or deletes the emissions equipment on your car, and may not meet emissions standards in all states. Because of this, we require a waiver of emissions compliance to be signed and sent in to TMS. You can download the waiver here.

This tuned resonator replaces the factory center resonator. The oversized pipe allows exhaust gas to flow more freely which reduces the workload on the turbocharger, and freeing up power and torque (especially when combined with the Supersprint section 1 pipe). This resonated section is tuned to work with a Supersprint M2 muffler (a resonator-delete pipe is also available for more sound).
