Installation:

Vehicle plastic belly pans may vary. Because the Turner 8HP transmission pan is taller to allow for increased fluid capacity, some vehicles may require trimming of the plastic belly pan, or the belly pan may need to be installed over the transmission pan where it may make contact.

The ZF S5D 320Z 5-speed transmission is known for its robust design, exceptional durability, and impressive power-handling capability. The ZF 320z S5D is a common swap choice among BMW enthusiasts due to its reliable and robust nature. Unfortunately, it does have a weakness. The detent pins and springs that live inside of the transmission are known to wear down over time, often causing the shift lever to lean towards the 5th gear position when in neutral.

Remedying the ZF's detent issue is a must for any enthusiast planning to get the most out of their transmission. Proper centering is essential for quick and smooth shifting, both being desirable features in any application. This kit is easy to install with several DIY guides existing online. A set of "drift" tools are included for proper installation.

A sloppy shifter is one of the common complaints of older BMWs. In addition to the shifter linkage the transmission mounts contribute to rough and clunky shifting. BMW transmission mounts are rubber and get softer over time. This allows the transmission to dance around which changes the geometry of the shift linkage and could make it harder to shift. These urethane transmission bushings are stiffer than the stock rubber mounts and won't let the transmission shift around as much. The round design also has more surface area than the stock mounts which helps spread the load. Because the urethane is stiffer, expect more vibration to make its way into the shift lever area. Engine motor mounts should also be considered as a cause for driveline vibration, transmission movement, and poor shifting. Consider replacing your motor mounts at the same time as your tranny mounts.
