The valve cover is responsible for sealing the internal workings of the engines' top end. Most vehicles require a replacement gasket at some point or another and newer models have plastic valve covers that get brittle and crack with age.
Cracked and warped valve covers can create troublesome vacuum leaks and allow leaking oil to damage engine components.
