The S54 engine has a known history of rod bearing failure, and if your engine is higher mileage, don't let this catastrophic failure happen to you. Replace your rod bearings and prevent a spun bearing which can trash your crankshaft. WPC is a surface treatment that reduces friction and adds strength - two improvements that benefit internal engine components. Ultra-fine particles are fired at the surface at very high speeds, like shot-peening - but much, much smaller. The parts come out smoother and stronger due to thermal discharge.
