When we designed this catch we wanted to have the most function options available, the best separation method, and the easiest to service. The Turner engineered catch cans offer a pre-setup design based ion desired flow direction, however this does not limit you to this flow. The inner baffle orientation can be easily adjusted to flow in both directions in case you decide to move this catch can to a different vehicle. A 4 chamber system  baffle system inside the catch can was engineered to create multiple changes in the direction of airflow within the separator to cause oil droplets to fall out of suspension before exiting the catch can. Having a closed / recirculated design reduces oil ingestion and promotes cleaner emissions and odor-less operation.

Our catch can was also designed with the idea that the cans fill level can easily be checked with a top mounted dipstick and an optional use bottom drain hole. The drain system comes complete with a valve and hose to be mounted at a lower area of the vehicle so when you're doing an oil change you can drain the catch can.

A combination of billet fittings and AN lines for an upgraded and serviceable crankcase vent hose. Attaches between the oil separator and the CSL air box.

The factory rubber/plastic hoses become brittle and crack over time. Brittle and cracked hoses can cause multiple vacuum leaks that are impossible to repair without hose replacement. Vacuum leaks can cause many problems including rough running, missing, stalling at idle, and even a no-start condition. The factory hoses offered by BMW are plastic and will yield the same results of becoming brittle and damaged over time.

The valve cover is a frequent culprit for such leaks due to gasket degradation from years of exposure to temperature fluctuations. This is an OEM INA tensioner pulley, also known as the adjusting pulley and lower pulley. This pulley is mounted on the belt tensioner near the center of the belt assembly. The upper and lower pulleys are known to be the primary sources for 'belt squealing'. This pulley is also encased in rubber which will crack over time. If left without service the rubber could fail completely, chucking the belt and leaving you stranded. Replacement is a very simple procedure and can be done anytime the fan is off the engine (belt replacement, water pump service, alternator replacement, etc).

This pulley is mounted along with the hydraulic belt tensioner but can be replaced on its own. It is used for the main drive belt on the M50-M54 family engines (M50, M50TU, M52, S52, M52TU, M54, M56, and S54 engines). This is the same belt that covers the water pump/alternator/power steering systems. Replacement is a very easy procedure (requires fan removal) and will have your engine purring in no time. Belt replacement is strongly recommended at the same time. If you have a mechanical belt tensioner, the pulley can only be replaced with a new tensioner.

After the introduction of the M52TU/M54 engines, BMW observed an uptick in CCV-related issues, especially in cold regions. Vehicles operating in extremely low temperatures often encountered a blockage in the CCV dipstick hose, leading to elevated crankcase pressure and visible blue smoke from the exhaust. To address this issue, BMW introduced cold climate-specific hoses with foam insulation, preventing condensation and facilitating quicker oil warm-up. Rubber breather pipes in various BMW applications are susceptible to cracking. Over time, engine heat and weather conditions can weaken these hoses, leading to breaks or leaks. This results in significant vacuum leaks that can severely affect engine performance.

Moreover, BMW faces a problem with oil separators freezing in cold weather, particularly if the engine isn't adequately warmed up during driving. Typical signs include a howling noise and subsequent oil leaks.
