The design is not very conducive to exhaust flow so they rob the engine of horsepower and torque. One way to get that back is to use a non-restrictive exhaust header like this Supersprint. It does not contain a catalytic converter so the shape and size of the tubing can be optimized for the M54 3.0-liter inline-6. A catalytic converter is still recommended but installed in place of the factory center resonator.
