The cowl trim panel at the base of the windshield is a known wear item on the BMW E46. Years of exposure to heat, UV rays, and the elements cause the original plastic to dry out, become brittle, and eventually crack or warp—detracting from an otherwise clean engine bay and windshield area.

We recommend replacing all seven of the plastic trim clips (T#10194). This cowl does not include clips, so the originals must be reused if replacements are not purchased. Keep in mind that the factory clips are often just as brittle as the cowl, and may break during removal or installation.

Note: BMW lists two different part numbers for E46 windshield cowls - one for coupe/convertible, and one for sedan/touring. Despite this, our testing confirms that this cowl (51718232894) fits all E46 submodels without issue.
