Product Details
The Fuel-It! CANfuel expands factory ECU capabilities by managing up to 8 fuel injectors sequentially, alongside an ethanol content sensor, low fuel pressure sensor, additional pressure sensors, EGT probes, external fuel pumps, and secondary auxiliary components. The system utilizes standard CANbus technology, seamlessly integrating with the vehicle's existing factory control module communication network.
Engineered from the ground up to optimize installation efficiency, operational safety, and system flexibility, CANfuel sets a new standard in secondary injection management. The architecture features an industry-leading 8 analog inputs with built-in 5v and signal ground references to eliminate sensor I/O limitations. For auxiliary hardware configuration, the module provides 5 analog outputs optimized for external gauges, signal clamps, and other custom telemetry requirements.
Extensive engineering went into the CANfuel design to ensure peak reliability under motorsport conditions. If the unit experiences a loss of crankshaft synchronization, the processor automatically defaults to a batch fire safety mode, preventing engine misfires and maintaining operational continuity. Furthermore, the high-current PWM outputs are engineered to source 12v, allowing solenoids and relays to be grounded directly on the opposite side. This architecture simplifies wiring loom complexity and enhances electrical reliability.
The electronics are protected by a rugged, weatherproof aluminum enclosure and connect via a premium plug-and-play harness system. Compatibility configurations include:
G Chassis Harness: Engineered specifically for all BMW G-chassis automatic transmission platforms.
Universal Harness: Suitable for all alternative BMW applications, including G-chassis manual transmissions, F-chassis, and E-chassis platforms.
CANfuel adapts to various powertrain control strategies via three distinct operational modes:
JB4 Slave Mode (Available Now): Designed for seamless integration with a JB4 tuning system. In this configuration, the CANfuel hardware integrates with the JB4 to allow comprehensive control over the expanded I/O—including sequential fuel injection, ethanol sensor inputs, fuel pressure inputs, and external boost solenoids—directly via the JB4 application. The integrated JB4 PI algorithm automatically compensates for tip-in, auto-tuning based on ethanol concentrations, and low fuel pressure scaling. For platforms with unlocked ECUs, free unlocked MHD backend flash maps are included to enable real-time ECU scaling based on port injection volume and active ethanol mixtures, eliminating the need for expensive custom flash tuning.
Stand-Alone Operation (Coming Soon): Functions as a fully independent engine management tool, allowing direct port injection mapping through the free CANfuel Bluetooth application. This mode delivers a 32x32 primary injection table featuring programmable modifiers for ethanol mixture, fuel pressure, tip-in, EGT, and comprehensive external solenoid boost PID control, with support for real-time tuning adjustments.
ECU Slave Mode (Coming Soon): Integrates fully with custom MHD-tuned ECUs. Mirroring the JB4 Slave architecture, this mode grants the primary ECU absolute command over port injection parameters, external boost solenoids, auxiliary inputs, and injection status monitoring.
Onboard Bluetooth connectivity pairs with a free iOS and Android application to provide standalone diagnostics and data acquisition. This interface allows users to monitor and log injector current, individual sensor I/O, and passive CANbus telemetry—such as engine temperatures, current gear, and vehicle speed—without requiring a laptop interface. The application also facilitates wireless firmware updates to deploy new features and functional updates.
