The BMW DOT4 ESL brake fluid is a low viscosity formula for modern ABS and DSC systems. BMW recommends low viscosity brake fluid for all chassis beginning with the E60 5-series. Low viscosity (LV) is a thinner fluid that works better than a normal fluid in the small channels and passageways in the ABS/DSC pump. Using the heavier fluid will result in a delayed response to ABS and DSC activation and a spongy feel in the brake pedal (only during ABS stops). BMW ESL is a DOT4 rated fluid and is compatible with other DOT3 or DOT5.1 fluids. For track use, a heavier high performance brake fluid such as Ate Typ 200 or Motul RBF600 or RBF660 is recommended because of their higher boiling point and because the thicker fluid will thin out at track temps. But for street use we recommend switching back to a LV fluid, especially in colder climates.

This is the new evolution of our popular Brake Bleeder Bottle. The latest design features a one-way check valve inside the bottle that is operated when you pump the brakes. This is a more economical and simpler system than other "1 man bleeding" kits - no modification to your brake system and you only have to buy the one bottle. The newest bottles also include upgraded caps and fittings for a tighter seal.

The one-way check valve is extremely simple to use - attach the bottle and hose, open your bleed screw, and pump your brakes from the pedal. The check valve opens with each pump to let fluid and air out of the system and then seals tight when the pedal is released. The bottle uses a large magnet to conveniently stick to your brake disc while you run the hose to the caliper.

Works on just about all brake systems so no need to have specialized adapters or bleed screws.

The original and still our most popular high performance brake fluid. Ate Type 200 (and its cousin Super Blue) offer extremely high boiling points in a full liter container at an attractive price. Even though it's rated as a DOT4 fluid, the boiling points of Ate Type 200 exceeds DOT5 specs. Ate brake fluid makes an excellent street/track dual purpose brake fluid for almost all BMWs. Application note: BMW recommends low viscosity fluid for all new chassis introduced from the E60 chassis onwards, however, a high performance DOT4 fluid is still recommended for track use on these cars.

Ate Typ 200 is an amber/gold color to meet DOT regulations. It is identical in every way to Ate Super Blue, which was removed from shelves because the blue dye was not DOT compliant.

Motul RBF600 is a ultra high performance DOT4-rated brake fluid intended for track and race vehicles. Motul's advanced glycol and borate formula has resulted in very high boiling points - even though it's rated as a DOT4 fluid, its boiling points exceed DOT5 specs. With such a high boiling point brake fade and vapor lock due to overheating is all but eliminated. Castrol SRF is an ultra high performing silicone-based brake fluid that exceeds DOT5 boiling points. SRF is a truly impressive brake fluid with the highest boiling points of any brake fluid we currently sell. We have used it extensively in our Touring and GT race cars. It's a silicone-based fluid that is hydrophobic and will not absorb moisture. Moisture in other brake fluids is what will lower wet boiling points but SRF stays stable even at very high temperatures. SRF is compatible with the rubber seals and metals used in conventional glycol-based braking systems so it can be used in almost all cars. It's especially common in cars that are in storage for extended time (see below). Mixing silicone and glycol fluids is not recommended so SRF is best used with all new hydraulic components or by repeatedly flushing the old system with SRF until the old fluid is gone.

Silicone fluids will need more frequent bleeding than conventional fluids. Since it does not absorb moisture, water will sit in the system and turn to vapor when it boils. The vapor, and any remaining water, will need to be bled out to avoid excessively spongy brakes and long pedal travel. Pooled water can also lead to rust so bleeding often is strongly recommended, especially on cars that sit for extended periods. A sealed bleeding tool works better than the traditional two-person method.

Low viscosity (LV) is a thinner fluid that works better than a normal fluid in the small channels and passageways in the ABS/DSC pump. Using the heavier fluid will result in a delayed response to ABS and DSC activation and a spongy feel in the brake pedal (only during ABS stops). The Motul DOT5.1 also meets DOT5 levels for boiling points but can also be mixed with DOT4 fluid. DOT4 fluid is still acceptable to use in later cars under racing/track conditions as the fluid will thin out at higher temperatures (Motul RBF600/660 DOT4 have higher boiling points than DOT5.1). But for street conditions the DOT5.1 is better.
