This is an OEM INA Idler Pulley, also known as the roller pulley or deflection pulley. The idler pulley is known to be the primary sources for 'belt squealing'. This eccentric shaft is a vital component of your BMW's N55 Valvetronic system, responsible for precise control of valve lift.
