BMW E88 Drilled & Slotted Brake Rotors Cross-drilled rotors are a quick and simple way to improve initial pad bite. With the additional leading edges at each hole, the pad is able to grab the rotor just a little bit harder when it’s time to stop NOW! Tests have shown (and drivers can feel) the immediate improvement. The holes also provide better cooling under hard use. Pad wear may be accelerated slightly (depending on driving technique), so only high quality brake pads should be considered.

Slotted rotors provide much of the increased pad bite that cross-drilled rotors do, but can handle the heat of more aggressive use. The slots act as a wiper, cleaning the pad face as they go by to reduce pad glazing, keeping the pads fresh for optimal performance. If taking the car often to track days or where very spirited driving is the norm, slotted rotors are the smart choice.

Cross-drilled and slotted rotors combine the best of both. Fewer holes mean longer pad life with little penalty in the way of initial pad bite. These are popular, aggressive-looking patterns that look great behind custom wheels.

Every SportStop® rotor is finished with black e-coating on both sides of the hat, inside the the cooling vanes, and on the outside edge. E-coating is a superior electro-statically applied finish designed to withstand 400 hours of salt water exposure without rusting. This is especially important on both mounting faces of the hat where it touches the hub flange and back face of the wheel. Any accumulation of rust in these area can lead to installed lateral run out issues.

These 2-piece floating rotors help dissipate heat better than a standard cast iron rotor and are also lighter for less unsprung weight. Managing heat in the brake system is vital to braking performance, especially on the track or when driven hard. It's why your brake rotors have internal vanes that vent heat as the rotor spins. These 2-piece ECS rotors feature an outer cast iron friction surface ring that is separate from the aluminum center hat. This allows better airflow through the vanes and for the friction ring can expand as it gets hot. The rotors are also cross-drilled for better ventilation and slotted to improve brake pad performance.

ECS 2-Piece Rotors feature:

  • Aluminum hats for light weight
  • Heat-treated cast iron friction rings
  • 2-piece assembly improves brake cooling
  • Anti-corrosion coating on non-friction surfaces and hard anodizing on rotor hat

These are the same size as the stock rotors so your stock caliper and mounting bracket will fit and there will be no clearance issues with your wheels or to other components. Stainless steel rotor retaining screws are included. You can use these with any brake pad.

Stainless Brake Rotor Set Screw (34211161806) - Set Of 4

This is a set of stainless steel brake rotor retaining screws to replace the factory steel screws. As everyone knows, the stock screws will seize in the holes over time. And the shallow recess on the head means the screw is easily stripped. These replacement rotor screws are stainless steel and won't corrode and seize in place.

This is a set of 4 stainless screws. Most BMW rotors take one screw but some M cars after 2001 will take two screws per rotor.
