Supersprint sport cats for the E82 N54 are designed to work with their cat-less headers. The Supersprint sport cats are much freer-flowing than a traditional stock cat. With less restriction, less effort is required to move the exhaust gasses which will free up horsepower and torque. This cat section will mount to the Supersprint downpipes (p/n 980211) and to the Supersprint section 2. This section is built with O2 sensor bungs pre-installed after the cat if you wanted to extend your stock post-cat O2 sensors (however, special software may still be needed).

Supersprint metallic sport catalytic converters are sourced from HJS of Germany. For 30 years HJS has been supplying motorsports teams with sport cats when rules required them. HJS is now a worldwide leader in sport cat technology and performance. Rally cars, German DTM, and Formula 3 all rely on HJS for clean, reliable horsepower. Supersprint works closely with HJS to spec a catalytic converter that is correct for the vehicle and engine package. This allows for a substantial increase in flow but which, at the same time, keeps the environmental specs within European limits. With any high-flow catalytic converter, special software or other work may be required to keep emissions fault codes and check engine lights from displaying. Supersprint catalytic converters are sold for track and other off-road uses only.

This tuned resonator section replaces the factory resonator and works with the Supersprint muffler for a new, more aggressive, but still tame, exhaust note. The resonator is tuned along with the rest of the exhaust to give a more sporty sound than the factory 128i resonator but still meet European noise regulations. If you want more sound after this, there is a resonator-delete pipe available as well.

This Supersprint section 2 replaces the center resonator in the 128i exhaust. By deleting resonators you can gain a little more volume from the exhaust. This factory midpipe from the N55 135i is a sound enhancement when used on the twin-turbo N54 models. This N55 midpipe does not have the secondary catalytic converters in place that the N54 cars had. Instead there are straight pipes leading to the resonator. Without the secondary catalytic converters in place the exhaust is louder and with more of a burble and rumble. It's a great first upgrade to make the N54 engine a bit louder and more aggressive! The problem with turbo engines is that the turbo itself will dampen the sound and make the engine harder to hear. And the N54 135i engine is further dampened by the secondary cats. This can be a problem on the track when you want other drivers to be able to hear you. This center section will restore some of that lost volume and open up the N54 engine. With less backpressure the turbos can spool up faster which will make a modest power improvement. There's an added bonus for the 1M coupe - drastically reduced droning at light throttle.
This is the factory BMW N55 midpipe. It's a direct fit to either the N54 or N55 engined cars with all of the correct bends and crimps to fit the E82 or E88 chassis. But it will only change the sound characteristics for cars with the N54 engine. The N54 and N55 use the same exhaust gaskets, rings, and hangers.
