E36, E46, E9X M3, Z3, Z4 Group N Motor Mount - Single These are the factory BMW Motorsport Group N motor mounts for 6-cylinder E36, E46, Z3, Z4, including all M3 models. They can also be used on the E9X M3. When the factory wanted to upgrade their motor mounts, this was the solution! The stock motor mount is filled with fluid and a relatively soft rubber compound. But during hard track use the stock motor mounts can become a liability with the engine twisting and shifting around. The transmission can twist around with the engine and that can lead to the dreaded mis-shift over-rev. BMW Motorsport's solution was to design a mount that is not fluid filled and solid rubber. The Group N mounts are 30% stiffer than the stock mounts which makes them perfect for weekend fun cars, autocross, and even light track use. With a more rigid mount, torque that would otherwise be used up in twisting the rubber bushing will instead be sent through the driveline to move the car. Because it lacks a fluid for dampening, more vibration will make its way into the car. These mounts are the same height as the original stock mounts. Pricey? Maybe. But these are factory Motorsport parts that work as advertised. These motor mounts are widely regarded as among the best on the market for a motor mount upgrade. Combine these with the UUC transmission mounts for a complete upgrade.

Turner Performance Polyurethane Engine Mount Set -  E36, E46, E9X M3, Z3, Z4

Rubber engine and transmission mounts for a street car and solid aluminum for the track, right? Well, it's not that straightforward anymore.

Stock rubber fluid-filled mounts are designed to be soft and comfortable, limiting the NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) felt by the driver. The drawback inherent with a conventional design is driveline deflection, making it more difficult to put the power to the wheels, as well as making a money-shift or miss-shift more likely as they age. Solid mounts are exactly the opposite of this - they permit tons of NVH while offering zero deflection, making these a must have for track-driven vehicles looking to capitalize on every ounce of performance available. Enthusiasts looking to find the best of both worlds often look to polyurethane engine mounts - and many are disappointed with other designs on the market. Seeking a mount that offers a positive connection yet doesn't deform, fail, or rattle the fillings out of their mouths is frequently a lost cause.

Until now. 

We engineered these mounts with these very concerns in mind. We know if a soft mount offers a sloppy connection it doesn't work on the track, and a solid mount isn't acceptable as a daily driver (for most!) and set out to engineer a mount that would meet the needs for both. At the core of our enclosed design is a partially-constrained, multi-piece polyurethane bushing with precisely-set preload. This architecture absorbs and disperses resonant engine frequencies as opposed to amplifying them (like some other designs do), which results in a positive-connection, enthusiast-feel mount with the vibration. 

We offer two durometers, with both densities offering similar "positive connection" feeling. 70A is slightly softer and offers more of a stock feel, while 90A delivers a little more engine "feel" while under acceleration.

E9X M3 Turner Motorsport Racing Delrin/Aluminum Motor and Transmission Mount Set These solid motor and transmission mounts for the E9X M3 last a lot longer than factory rubber mounts and do not bind or 'wind up' as torque is transmitted through them (this means more power is directed through the driveline to the wheels). These mounts were developed over a number of years for our Grand-Am GS-class E92 M3s. This endurance racing format is perfect for developing parts that not only perform but are also durable under the harshest conditions you can expect. For the E9X M3, we tried and tested a number of motor and trans designs before deciding on this one as the strongest and best design under Grand-Am rules (non-metallic material made to the same dimensions as the original part). We use a special solid Delrin material on the motor mounts that is very heat resistant and sandwiched between aluminum mounting layers. This reinforces and gives additional strength to the Delrin and still meets Grand-Am rules for 'non-metallic' mounts. The heat resistance was a must given the close proximity of the M3's V8 headers to the engine mounts. We very strongly recommend using the transmission and engine mounts together as a complete kit. Mixing a rubber mount with a metal mount will cause undue stress on the mounting points and will lead to a failure. We never advise using a solid mount unless a corresponding solid mount is also used.

This is a set of two motor mounts and two transmission mounts. Solid mounting kits should be used for race only applications and only as a matching set.

E9X M3 Turner Motorsport Racing Aluminum Motor and Transmission Mount Set Full solid aluminum mounts are the ideal solution to deflection and wear problems on the E9X M3 motor and transmission mounts. We designed these aluminum mounts at the same time as the CTSCC/Grand-Am-legal Delrin mounts but have even better performance characteristics than those and far superior to any stock or urethane mount. Using experience from our winning days with the E36 and E46 in World Challenge, these full solid motor and transmission mounts have zero deflection and zero wear. Deflection is caused by engine torque twisting, pulling, and pushing on a rubber or urethane mount. This is a big problem because the mount can fail and valuable torque is being wasted in the twisting motion. Since aluminum doesn't deflect at all, the torque is sent through the driveline and the mount will never fail. At the transmission end the flex-free solid mounts will give smoother, crisper shifts since the transmission is no longer dancing on the pliable mount. This puts the shift linkages in better consistent alignment. And unlike rubber or urethane the aluminum has zero wear and is not affected by leaking oil or other fluids so this is likely the last set of motor and transmission mounts you will ever need. We very strongly recommend using the transmission and engine mounts together as a complete kit. Mixing a rubber mount with a metal mount will cause undue stress on the mouting points and will lead to a failure. We never advise using a solid mount unless a corresponding solid mount is also used.

These are a no-compromise design for all-out racing use. Full solid aluminum mounts should not be used on street-driven cars. Because there is no material to absorb vibration these will be quite harsh for regular street use (track cars don't care about noise).
