Made in the USA O2 Sensor Bung and plug. This weld-in bung allows an O2 sensor to be screwed into your exhaust system. It's required for custom exhaust systems, and is also useful for air/fuel ratio measurements when dyno testing. A threaded plug is included to cap off when not in use. Bung and cap/plug are both 100% stainless steel. The bung and plug are also available separately (in case you don't need both). Simply choose your option below.

Install Tips
  • Locate bung as close to engine a possible, without exceeding the maximum operating temperature for the O2 sensor. The suggested location is just down-stream of the merge-collector on each bank of cylinders.
  • Sensors located after upstream exhaust system leaks or too close to exhaust outlets are susceptible to poor readings or influence of ambient air
  • O2 Sensors exposed to exhaust gasses with too high amount of un-burnt fuel can lead to misleading readings. A possible lean reading.
  • Locate sensor/bung 90deg to exhaust gas stream.
  • Locate sensor/bung in tube with a minimum of 10deg up angel to prevent liquid build up in sensor element.
  • Use stainless steel welding wire or rod when installing bung.
  • Do not have bung plug or a oxygen sensor installed when welding bung in place.
  • Welding can distort the bung so it is recommended you chase/tap the threads of the bung after welding.
  • When installing O2 sensor or plug, use an O2 sensor compatible high temperature resistant grease on the threads.
  • Use tightening torque suggested by O2 senor manufacturer.

With the racetrack and the street in mind, this new exhaust system is crafted from an extremely heat-resistant and lightweight chrome-nickel alloy called Inconel(r). This flow optimized exhaust system reduces exhaust backpressure and allows the M3's 414 horsepower S65 V8 engine to produce an even more powerful sound. Inconel's unique qualities allowed engineers to reduce the thickness of the tubing from 1.5mm to 0.8mm. This resulted in a weight reduction of approximately 40%, or about 20 lbs. when compared to the stock exhaust system. Inconel has also proven to be very corrosion resistant and has been used at the highest level of Motorsports. The M Performance Exhaust includes perforated inner pipes and polished titanium tips, which are laser engraved with the M logo. It represents the ultimate in technology and sportiness, accentuating the individual character of the BMW M3. The exhaust was developed using state-of-the art CAD and FEM technology ensuring optimum fit and OEM quality.

The aFe Race Center Pipe eliminates the factory primary and secondary catalytic converters in favor of 2.5" mandrel-bent stainless exhaust with 200-cell race cats. This aFe exhaust section fills the need for a E9X M3 center section with better flow than stock but that still incorporates catalytic converters. aFe recorded gains of 21whp and 35ft-lbs of torque on their dyno (when also combined with the aFe intake and mufflers).

aFe spent considerable time developing a system to eliminate both sets of stock cats and the center resonator for maximum flow but also doesn't lose torque or power at any RPM point, while also bolting to the factory headers and rear mufflers. It's a direct replacement for the stock section 1 and section 2 mid-pipes and includes a tuned center x-pipe to evenly balance exhaust pulses and maintain backpressure through the system. It uses all of the factory mounting locations, gaskets, and hangers and is made from the best 304 stainless steel.

By tuning the exhaust with different pipe diameters and the location of the x-pipe crossover, the aFe Race Pipe produces a very aggressive, raucous, and powerful exhaust note even when used with the stock muffler system. By opening up the exhaust and deleting the two restrictive cat sections and resonators, you will be able to hear a lot more of the exhaust as well as a deeper tone with more rumble - and with a big bump in power to go along with the sound! Don't be misled by other "race" pipes with minor sound changes - the aFe exhaust sounds a lot like our own E92 M3 racecars.

This Bosch Lambda sensor is used with aftermarket engine management systems around the world. It's a universal racing oxygen sensor but only works with specialized racing engine management, advanced air/fuel and Lambda gauges, and Bosch Motorsport ECUs and Lambda control boxes (LT4). This is not a universal sensor to work in any production BMW. This is a motorsport-only wideband O2 sensor.

This sensor is designed to measure the oxygen content and Lambda value of exhaust gases in automotive gasoline engines. The wideband Lambda sensor LSU 4.9 is a planar ZrO2 dual cell limiting current sensor with integrated heater. Its monotonic output signal in the range of I>> = 0.65 to air makes the LSU capable of being used as a universal sensor for I>> = 1 measurement as well as for other Lambda ranges. The connector module contains a trimming resistor, which defines the characteristic of the sensor. The LSU4.9 operates only in combination with a special LSU-IC, used in most Bosch Motorsport ECUs and Lambda control boxes (LT4).

The main benefit of the LSU is the robust design combined with the high Bosch production quality standard.

Application Hints:

  • The Lambda sensor should be installed at a point which permits the measurement of a representative exhaust-gas mixture, which does not exceed the maximum permissible temperature.
  • As far as possible install the sensor vertically (cable upwards).
  • The sensor is not to be fitted near to the exhaust pipe outlet, so that the influence of the outside air can be ruled out.
  • The exhaust piping must be free of leaks in order to avoid the effects of leak-air.
  • Protect the sensor against condensation water.
  • The sensor is not to be coated or painted, nor is wax to be applied or any other forms of treatment.
  • Use only the recommended grease for lubricating the thread.

The Supersprint race mufflers on the E92 M3 greatly amplify the audible sensations coming from the M3 V8. The Race mufflers are a freer-flowing and more aggressive sound than the larger, standard 'street' muffler because they don't need to meet conservative European noise limits. For a performance upgrade on your E90/E92 M3 there is nothing better than the cat-delete with specialized software. This combination produces over 40whp and 30wft-lbs with no other modifications - a massive gain on an already impressive engine!

Our Race software has been fine-tuned over the years beginning with our IMSA/CTSCC E92 M3 racecars (2011 GS class champions). We modify over 40 different maps in the ECU for such things as fuel and timing maps at part throttle and full throttle, revised torque settings, knock control, VANOS and cam timing, pedal input, top speed limiter, and rev limiters. Additional tuning has been done for the cat delete - prevent limp mode and check engine lights, fault codes for cat delete, and turning off the secondary air pump (to satisfy race series regulations). Turning off the secondary air pump also disables the cold start sequence so your idle and warm-up will be smoother and quieter. A built-in cold start rev limiter safeguards the engine internals until the oil warms up. Not only is there a lot more power at all RPM but the engine is more responsive and smoother!

Our M3 Test Pipes were designed specifically for race/track use and offer a cost-effective means of removing the very restrictive primary cats. On our Turner M3 and BMW Motorsport M3 GT4 racecars the primary cats and restrictive piping is eliminated. Our M3 cat delete pipes were the first on the market and have proven again and again to make big power on their own or especially when paired with our Stage 2 performance software. Our Test Pipes are Made in the USA with strict production tolerances and quality control. We manufacture our pipes with high quality, mandrel-bent stainless steel pipes and laser-cut flanges for an optimum fitment. New gaskets are included. The factory secondary cats remain in place. Your original O2 sensors plug into the Turner Test Pipes.

Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy (click here for instructions). The OBD tool, cable, and files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your M3 flashed in under an hour from the convenience of your garage or driveway!

Turner Race Software Options:

Minimum Octane

You can choose between 91 or 93. We have developed tuning for the standard 'high octane' premium fuel found around the country (91 is the maximum available in some areas). Our power and torque gains are advertised with 91. If using 93 we can alter the knock sensor logic to extract more power with the higher grade fuel. Additional race fuel maps are also available, contact us for details.

Rev Limit

On 6-speed manual cars we can set a higher engine rev limit. 8,300 is stock; 8,400 is what was used on the GTS model in Europe; 8,600 is the safest raised rev limit that we have used in our race cars. To make things simple we offer it as either stock 8,300 or raised to 8,600. On DCT cars the higher rev limits are for M shift modes only (manual/paddle shift). The higher revs do not work in full auto D modes. Work is continuing on higher limits for D mode.

Launch Control

Our software can also enable a Launch Control feature. To use it, activate M Dynamic Mode, engage first gear, hold the throttle to the floor (it will only rev to 3,500 RPM), and dump the clutch. Keep your foot to the floor and hang on! You don't have to modulate the clutch and throttle - the engine and DSC modules will handle the launch. We experimented with different launch points and found that 3,500 RPM offers a great combination of tire hook-up and torque output. This is available on manual transmission cars only (DCT has their own built-in launch control).

M Dynamic Mode Steering

We can set the M Dynamic Mode (MDM) steering effort as the standard steering. The MDM steering is heavier and requires more effort when driving at higher speeds. Some owners feel that the standard steering is too light and over-boosted and the MDM steering is a nice change. This does not affect the steering effort, or the other features, of MDM.

240E Update

Our performance and race software is built around a specific version of stock BMW software (version 240E). It was released towards the end of M3 production and includes a number of significant changes over older versions for drivability and torque managment. 240E was such a big step forward that it's considered an upgrade all on its own. No worry if you don't have 240E - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed.

In 2015 BMW released a 241E update. There are minor changes to the software code but the tuning maps and data are all the same as the 240E version so there is no need to update to 241E. If the dealer offers it we recommend that you decline. If you're already on 240E there is no reason to switch to 241E (the tuning maps are the same).

Turner Corsa Performance T-304 stainless exhaust system for 2008, 2009 and newer E90/E92/E93 M3 (sedan, coupe & convertible). Features mandrel-bent tubing, polished quad 3" tips (double-walled, angle cut and staggered), and drone-free quiet-cruising, thanks to patented Reflective Sound-Cancellation (RSC) technology. This is a drone-free exhaust system, delivering a pleasant sound at idle and cruise and a muscular roar at high rpm.

How is this accomplished? The RSC technology is a non-electrical noise control system without the complication of incorporating the use of electronics or speakers. Essentially, engine sound (pressure) waves are reflected in passages inside the muffler 180 degrees out of phase to cancel out unwanted sound waves. The result is a "tuned" muffler that "cleans up" the noise without eliminating the pure sound of power associated with a high-performance vehicle. Using the Corsa technology, the stainless steel mufflers are tuned to eliminate passenger cabin resonance and produce just the "right" sound. The result is quieter cruising with an awe-inspiring roar at full throttle. This system is amazingly quiet during normal cruising, due to the "no drone" RSC technology, yet still has an aggressive presence and full sound while under throttle. This gives your E90/E92 M3 an ideal sound for those that want an aggressive "roar" while driving hard, yet still want a more discrete lower volume for normal cruising. As well as the tuned sound and drone eliminating sound, the mufflers on this E90/E92 M3 system use a straight-thru flow design for maximum flow and the least amount of restriction.
