Head bolts are one time use, and under no circumstance should be reused. Head bolts stretch when torqued, and do not return to a non-stretched state.

When replacing a head gasket or performing maintenance that requires the removal of the head, it is advised to replace the cylinder head bolts as they are torque to yield bolts that allow for one time use only.
