The E90 330i had the highest horsepower out of the N52-powered vehicles. The reason for this was while the 128i, 325i, 328i, 525i, and 528i received a single-stage manifold, the 330i was gifted a 3-stage manifold. A 3-stage manifold consisted of 2 DISA valves that would divert air to the cylinders that needed it. With more air going to the appropriate cylinders and fuel adjustments by the ECU, this valve system helps extract the most power from the N52. If your M3 has recently gone into "limp mode" and tripped some engine codes, you may have a faulty throttle body actuator. The plastic gear teeth become rounded and broken over time, resulting poor or no throttle response to your input.

The intercooler in your vehicle is a rather vulnerable component, being susceptible to stone hits, debris and other damage. An intercooler with bent cooling fins will be less efficient, so replace it with a new one to restore performance.
