Heatsoak is one of the obstacles to making big power from turbocharged engines. The stock intercooler design is commendable for single runs at the stock boost levels, but add any more boost and the system is quickly overwhelmed. As the ECU corrects for heat soak, the boost will be decreased and power reduced. Installing an upgraded intercooler is essential to keeping the engine computer from restraining boost as temperatures climb and helps to maintain boost levels even in the face of elevated turbocharger temperatures. The Evolution Racewerks Competition intercooler is much larger than stock, providing more surface area for cooling air to pass through. Even heat soak at low speeds is reduced, making this a worthwhile addition even for stock or mildly tuned engines.

Looking for more sound than what can be attained from the standard Dinan closed box intake for F2x/F3x B46/B48 powered vehicles and don't want to sacrifice all the performance gains or the beautifully crafted carbon fiber design in the process? This semi-open variant of the same intake meets those demands using a revised lid with an additional auditory port so those intoxicating turbo noises can be more easily heard. Beyond the additional sound opening the semi-open intake takes the same path to success as its closed box counterpart. Improve upon the factory design by increasing flow via a larger airbox and filter element thereby improving throttle response and lessening the strain on the turbocharger for maximum efficiency. While box and filter enlargement and redesign are major factors in ultimately producing a more potent intake, they are not the only variables in creating a more efficient design either. The devil is in the details which is where Dinan thrives. Dinan engineers focused their attention on the intake pipe itself where numerous improvements could be made. In factory configuration, the intake tube comes complete with baffling and a small Helmholtz chamber to reduce unwanted sound. As a byproduct, these features also cause a more turbulent airflow path which robs the factory system of potential power. These two specific details are diametrically opposed to our intended market's desires, so the removal of these features was paramount. Through numerous iterations, a carbon fiber intake tube was developed that eliminated flow disruptions and allowed the natural sound of an unimpeded intake tract to sing. All told this thorough methodology of design allows the Dinan carbon fiber intake for the B46/B48 engine to elicit gains of 6 HP and 6 TRQ at 5000 RPM on a completely stock vehicle. Not to be outdone by the performance side of the equation, the B46/B48 intake also is completely made up of carbon fiber unlike 4-cylinder intakes of previous generations where a mix of materials were used. Not only is the intake completely carbon construction but the quality of the material has been improved as well. While looks are surely important, and this piece has that department covered in spades, the improved construction and coating also guarantees that the appearance of the engine bay with the Dinan intake will not be marred over time. Built to elicit a more pronounced sound, imbue the engine bay with some carbon class, perform, and last the duration-- the Dinan semi-open B46/B48 carbon fiber intake is a modification that is a must for any enthusiast that places sound atop their requirements list. On turbocharged motors, the intake piping is put under constant pressure while the engine is running, and has to hold that pressure without leaking. Unfortunately the smallest amount of damage or defect on the intake hoses and the pressure can cause a leak, leaving you without proper boost pressure. The 2.0 Liter B48B20 and 3.0 Liter B58B30M0 turbo engine of the specified BMW models is equipped with an indirect charge-air cooling circuit. So the cooling of the charged air is not realized by the ambient air as a cooling medium (as usual), but made with its own cooling water circuit. A reduction of the temperature of the cooling water is directly equated with an improved cooling performance of the charged air. This is exactly where the advantages of the WAGNERTUNING upgrade radiator comes into play. The newly developed competition racing core of the WAGNERTUNING high-performance radiator increase the radiator volume of the OEM water cooler by a total of 117 %. The calculated ratio between the inner and outer cooling surface generates a maximum heat transfer and allows at the same time enough airflow for the surrounding components (for example the engine radiator) for its own heat exchange. Furthermore, using an increased amount of cooling water, the entire system thermics can be kept at a lower level over a longer period of time. This BladeRunner Intercooler represents the next generation of intercoolers. Designed specifically for the 2012-2016 BMW 328i (F3X) 12-16 L4-2.0L (t) with the N20 engine, this BladeRunner intercooler utilizes a 5" bar and plate core design. This design outflows the factory tube and fin core design, while the 3/16" TIG-Welded end tanks offer superior strength and durability. In testing, this intercooler showed flow gains up to 21% and lowered the intake air temperatures.

End Tanks:
The unique BladeRunner end tanks are constructed out of 3/16" thick aluminum plates and include two 1/8" NPT ports for sensors or water-methanol injection.

5" Bar and Plate Core Design:
The use of the bar and plate core design allows for greater airflow and increased heat dissipation over the much smaller tube and fin design used by the factory.

TIG-Welded:
100% TIG-Welded inside and out by a certified craftsmen for strength and durability. TIG-Welding provides the strongest welds while reducing stress cracks.

Pressure Tested:
The BladeRunner Intercooler is test pressure rated at 200psi.

Cold Side Tube:
Constructed of 2-1/2" to 2-3/4" mandrel-bent aluminum tubing and powder-coated wrinkle-black for heat and corrosion resistance. The smooth transition mandrel bends decrease turbulence which increases horsepower and torque. The high-temp wrinkle-black powder-coating insulates the tube from engine heat and protects the tube from corrosion. Includes stainless steel clamps for a leak-free seal and heavy-duty 5-Ply reinforced silicone coupling for strength.

Perfect Fit:
Utilizes the factory mounting locations for a hassle-free installation. The intercooler and tubes utilize billet factory style quick connects to assure a leak-free connection.
