The cooling system is arguably the weakest point in numerous BMWs. If you drive an aging BMW or plan on taking your car to the track like we do, we recommend beefing up your cooling system before going to the track. Generally, the main components in your cooling system that are prone to failure include the following: expansion tank, factory hoses, water pump, thermostat, fan (especially if your vehicle comes factory with a clutch fan), and radiator. Factory BMW expansion tanks are plastic and prone to either breaking off at connection points or combusting. As factory rubber hoses age they either crack or break over time - we offer silicone cooling hose upgrades for most applications to avoid future failures. If you have an older vehicle, your water pump likely comes from the factory with a plastic impeller - we offer upgraded water pumps with metal impellers that are far more reliable. Newer model BMWs utilize electric water pumps - BMW spent millions of dollars engineering these water pumps, but they fail so often that we recommend replacing at 60,000 mile service intervals to avoid being stranded on the side of the road. In terms of thermostats, we offer various upgraded thermostats for racing applications. If your BMW utilizes a clutch fan from the factory, we have several options available in terms of universal electric fans - we recommend replacing these to avoid sending brittle plastic fan blades through your hood. For radiators, we recommend swapping out your radiator for one that does not use plastic connection points like your factory radiator.

The perfect upgrade for your connection between your thermostat and cylinder head. Designed using durable silicone and billet aluminum to greatly outlast the OE rubber and plastic combination. Some of the weakest points of the cooling systems in BMW's can come down to the OE plastic fittings breaking down from the constant changes in temperature, softening these plastic components. When this happens, even simply moving the hose slightly could cause the fitting to crack, causing the coolant to leak all over. The ECS design silicone hose with billet aluminum adapter retains OE fitment with superior strength to not only handle the performance, but also stand up to the wear and tear of a daily driver. Features: Manufactured from billet 6061-T6 and type III anodized for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance. While all coolant hoses are prone to failure, the expansion tank hose is especially susceptible to failure. To fix this issue, ECS has created the ultimate performance hose upgrade! Crafted from heavy-duty, fiber-reinforced silicone, this ECS Exact-Fit Silicone Expansion Tank Hose withstands higher temperatures and greater pressure than the factory rubber alternative. Engineered to resist electrochemical degradation, it’s tested for continuous operation at 250°F and over 45 psi, ensuring improved reliability, enhanced flow, and reduced turbulence. To further improve upon the factory hose design, ECS engineers developed precision-machined billet aluminum "Quick Connect" hose ends. Unlike the OEM plastic counterparts, these robust components resist heat-induced failure, ensuring long-term durability and reliability. Replaces OEM Part Numbers: 17128570061, 17128507235. Installation is straightforward: begin by removing the factory overflow hose and retaining clips. Transfer the OEM metal clips from the factory connector to the new billet fittings, then press the fittings onto the expansion tank and upper coolant hose. The included silicone hose is routed through the OEM path and securely clamped onto the billet fittings. After installation, the fittings can stay in place, only the silicone needs to be removed for future maintenance.
