S58 equipped cars are an absolute weapon on the road and track. Although BMW has upgraded their charge pipe design they are no match for the upgraded FTP charge pipes.

In years past the BMW charge pipes were made from flimsy plastic that ended up failing rather quickly and/or blowing apart due to the constant heat cycling in the engine. For the S58 BMW stepped it up a notch with a combination of rubber piping with aluminum flanges. The issue with the rubber hoses are that they can expand and contract which allow for fluctuating pressure and over time, failure.
