Introducing our newest upgrade for your E36: a full billet aluminum valve cover engineered to eliminate factory and aftermarket valve cover issues. If you're familiar with our new Turner Motorsport products for 2023 and 2024 you can tell that our engineering team at Turner has a focus on older chassis, especially the E36.

Our valve cover is designed to fit some of the best engines BMW ever came out with, single vanos M50/M52 and S50/S52. Not only are these great motors in general and deserve an upgraded valve cover but they are also prime for boosting. When adding boosting you will be introducing heat which can wreak havoc on your ignition system and make your factory valve cover extremely prone to failure.

The reality of the M5x/S5x motors is that the plastic valve covers are sub-par and the magnesium versions are no longer available from BMW and even those can even warp. You can end up replacing your valve cover time and time again dealing with issues if you prefer but the option is here for you. The last valve cover you buy for your E36.

BMW's Single-VANOS M52 and S52 engines were equipped with plastic valve covers from the factory. Nearing thirty years post-production, this material choice has proven to be problematic. Due to years of exposure to extreme engine temperatures and chemical-rich engine oil, these plastic valve covers will eventually warp. This results in a valve cover that will not seal, requiring a complete replacement of both the plastic valve cover and associated gaskets.

To remedy this, many enthusiasts opt to swap for the magnesium valve cover found on M50 and S50 engines. Unfortunately, magnesium is no less resistant to heat-induced warpage than plastic.

Thankfully, Bremmen Parts is aware of these issues and has created an exact-fit, high-quality performance replacement for all Single-VANOS M52 and S52-equipped BMWs. This cover features durable aluminum construction, which eliminates the warping issue found on OE plastic and magnesium valve covers. Unlike the OE magnesium cover upgrade, Bremmen's aluminum cover retains the forward oil fill location found, allowing you to retain your existing engine beauty cover.

Not only will this kit stop most E90 oil leaks, it's the perfect addition for ignition coil or spark plug replacement! Oil leaks - and the damage they can cause - seem to be the worst annoyances on these cars. The biggest source of an oil leak is from the valve cover, followed by the oil filter housing, Valvetronic seal, camshaft seals, and the eccentric shaft sensor seal. Once the oil leaks, and if ignored for an extended time, the oil will contaminate vital electrical sensors. This is especially the case with ignition coils and also the eccentric shaft sensor on the Valvetronic shaft at the top of the cylinder head. During any ignition coil and spark plug replacement take a close look inside for any oil pooling at the bottom. We have been seeing valve cover oil leaks as soon as 40,000 miles. We look for oil leaks on every E90 that comes into our shop.

We have put together this package of valve cover gaskets and other related gaskets and seals for you to fully overhaul the N52 valve cover and put a stop to those pesky oil leaks. This package has the replacement parts for N52 engines built up to 10/2006 and includes:

These are all Genuien BMW parts. Replacement of these gaskets and seals is straight-forward but a long process. BMW dealers typically charge for over eight hours of labor. If you have replaced spark plugs before you should be capable of this repair. In addition, there are several other parts to replace while you're in the vicinity: camshaft sensor o-rings, oil filter housing profile gasket, VAN0S solenoids, and the eccentric shaft sensor. These other parts, except the eccentric shaft sensor (see below), are replaceable without removing the valve cover but are more easily accessed during the valve cover work.

Eccentric Shaft Sensor: This is the position sensor that relays the eccentric shaft's position back to the DME. It's located at the front of the engine and is only accessible with the valve cover off. Over time the seal around the sensor comes loose and oil is allowed to blow out of the cam cover and it eventually finds its way into the sensor (which will eventually fail). Without a functioning sensor your E90 can experience poor running, hesitation, poor performance, jerky shifts, and sluggish response. It's easy to check and see if oil has accumulated inside the sensor: unbolt the engine trim cover (the outer cover with the BMW roundel), unplug the sensor, and look inside. If oil is present inside or even around the sensor itself, plan on replacing this sensor during your next ignition coil, spark plug, and/or valve cover gasket work.

The valve cover gasket seals the valve cover to the cylinder head, preventing oil leaks and maintaining engine integrity. Over time, exposure to high engine temperatures causes the gasket's rubber construction to degrade, leading to significant oil leaks.
