New for the F8X-generation M2, M3, and M4 is a low-slung, horizontally mounted oil cooler designed to harness underbody aerodynamics. By placing the cooler in a low-pressure zone, this design enhances airflow efficiency and achieves sustainable oil temperatures for stock and street-driven cars. However, the compact core is quickly overwhelmed on modified or track-driven vehicles. Its exposed mounting position also leaves it highly susceptible to impact damage, so a minor scrape or piece of road debris can mean a costly full replacement. If you’re already replacing your oil cooler, it’s the perfect time to upgrade!

Our engineering team set out to solve the shortcomings of the factory design by developing a larger, higher-capacity core that delivers measurable gains in thermal stability. With a 7% increase in core thickness over OEM, this upgraded unit enhances airflow through the cooler and helps maintain lower, more consistent oil temperatures under sustained load. Thanks to its robust bar-and-plate core, precision-formed sheet metal end tanks, and durable 5052 aluminum construction, it’s built to withstand the harsh realities of real-world performance driving.

The inner baffle orientation can be easily adjusted to flow in both directions in case you decide to move this catch can to a different vehicle. A 4 chamber system baffle system inside the catch can was engineered to create multiple changes in the direction of airflow within the separator to cause oil droplets to fall out of suspension before exiting the catch can. Having a closed/recirculated design reduces oil ingestion and promotes cleaner emissions and odor-less operation.

Being an N54/N55 owner you know that oil temps can get out of hand leaving you with an anxious feeling and the needle a little too close to the red on your gauge cluster. What if you could get the oil flowing faster, maintain lower temperatures, and still have proper engine warm-up?

Upgrade your N54/N55 engine with our Billet oil cooler housing, replacing the underperforming factory-cast aluminum unit. Engineered for enhanced performance and a blended aesthetic, our Turner oil cooler housing features an OEM+ black anodized finish and our own engineered lower-temperature thermostat. Unlike makeshift solutions like thermostat bypass kits, our housing integrates an OE thermostat, ensuring a gradual yet expedited engine warm-up process, similar to factory settings but faster.

Out goes the factory 110-degree Celsius (230F) thermostat, replaced by our 70-degree Celsius (158F) counterpart. This new thermostat triggers oil flow a significant 72 degrees Fahrenheit earlier than the factory version. This early flow translates into prolonged lower oil temperatures for both the oil cooler and engine, maintaining a happier, healthier engine with consistently lower operating temperatures.

Every E30 swap story starts the same way: you want the reliability and power of a modern BMW 24V engine - M50, M52, S50, or S52 - but without heavy modifications or a list of oil pan parts that are no longer available(NLA). You’ve read the forums, seen the DIYs, and done the math. And you’re still faced with the same question: how am I going to find all of these parts and make them work?

That’s exactly the problem we set out to solve.

At Turner Motorsport, we’ve been building BMWs for decades. We've performed the swaps, turned the wrenches, and taken the laps. The Turner Fabricated Oil Pan was born out of that experience, an enthusiast-engineered solution that eliminates the guesswork and lets you focus on what really matters: driving.

We designed this oil pan from the ground up to support 24V engine swaps into the E30 chassis, with zero permanent modifications.

Crafted from TIG-welded 5052 aluminum, this pan is as durable as it is lightweight. The brushed anodized finish adds a subtle shine under the hood and guards against corrosion for long-term reliability. Inside, we’ve integrated full-length oil control baffles with trap doors, ensuring your oil stays where it needs to be, even under the most aggressive acceleration, braking, and cornering.

The low-profile design is perfect for lowered cars, and the 8 mm-thick flange ensures a proper seal with the factory gasket. We didn’t stop there, every pan includes a billet aluminum oil pickup with an integrated stainless mesh screen that’s fully serviceable, a 304 stainless steel dipstick tube, and a billet rear transmission plate that allows you to utilize the lower mounting holes, unlike the stock E34 pan.

Whether you're building a high-performance street car, a dedicated track weapon, or a clean restomod, this oil pan offers OEM-level integration with aftermarket performance. It’s the cleanest, easiest, and most effective way to run a 24V engine in your E30 — built by BMW lovers, for BMW lovers.

Made in the USA NEW, updated design allows for more applications! The TMS Oil Cooler Fitting kit allows much more flexibility in the routing of oil cooler lines. Standard oil coolers utilize �hard lines� which can cause fitment issues for cars with superchargers, Accusumps, or other aftermarket performance parts. Our kit replaces the oil cooler hard lines with two TMS engineered -10 AN fittings, mounting bracket, and O-rings. Flexible braided hoses can then be run to the oil cooler which eliminates routing issues from supercharges, intakes, and other components. The brackets are CNC machined stainless steel and the -10 AN fittings are lightweight aluminum.

NEW REVISED Kit fits E36 Euro oil filter housing, E36 Euro oil cooler, E46 M3 stock oil filter housing, E46 M3 stock oil cooler , and works great with aftermarket oil coolers.

BMW's newest high-performance powertrain—the S58B30—has proven to be an extremely durable platform built to last! Unfortunately, its factory oil cooler location is an egregious weak link in an otherwise bulletproof oiling system. Positioned just inches above the ground, the engine oil cooler is vulnerable to damage from debris, potholes, parking blocks, and other unavoidable road hazards. A single impact has the potential to rupture the cooler’s delicate aluminum fins and tubes, resulting in rapid oil loss and catastrophic low oil pressure. The only factory protection for this part is a flimsy undertray.

To safeguard the oil cooler, we've engineered a high-strength Aluminum Skid Plate for the F97 X3M and F98 X4M. Designed for peak performance and protection, our skid plate acts as a shield, preventing damage to the oil cooler while maintaining proper cooling efficiency.

Crafted from 4GA (4.83mm) 5052 aluminum, our skid plate delivers a perfect balance of strength and weight savings. Unlike the fragile factory plastic belly pan, our design forms a protective barrier from the front bumper to the front subframe, shielding your oil cooler and other fragile componentry from unexpected impacts. Its sturdy one-piece design enhances underbody rigidity without adding unnecessary weight over the front axle.

At Turner Motorsport, we believe protection shouldn't come at the cost of performance. Our engineers aimed to outperform the factory undertray design with laser-cut air channels that optimize airflow through the oil cooler. While located under the engine, the oil cooler receives its fresh airflow from the front air dam. Air flows through the lower front grille, into the oil cooler core, and out of the skid plate. The factory belly pan allows air to bypass the core, leading to inefficient cooling and mediocre airflow at speed. Our design allows for efficient heat dissipation by incorporating flared air channels, which guide cool air through the oil cooler and deflect road debris before it can reach the fragile core.

Through experimentation and data acquired from our E36 World Challenge Touring Cars, it was discovered that in long corners and under heavy braking that there was an oil starvation problem in the M50 and M52 engines. This system was developed to keep oil in the sump and eliminate the starvation problem. After several iterations, further testing and data acquisition in the Touring Cars showed that this system eliminates the problem of oil starvation. This is a less expensive alternative to replacing the stock oil pan with the factory BMW M3 Lightweight oil pan, while still achieving the similar results.

The Turner N55 oil catch can was designed with a strategically positioned 4 chamber baffle system with an added easy drain feature. The intent behind this design was to offer the most effective oil/air separation while being incredibly easy to maintain. The included drain kit allows you to route the drain hose to a mounted location near the belly pan of the vehicle making it convenient to empty at oil change intervals.

Modern day emissions regulations require the use of a closed crankcase ventilation (PCV) system to recirculate combustion blow-by gases from the crankcase back in to the intake to be burned.  Unfortunately, these blow by gases contain water vapor (which is a byproduct of combustion) and pick up oil mist from and the windage cloud and cam lubrication system as they travel through the crank case.  Due to less than 100% effective air/oil separation in the stock PCV system, some oil mist and water vapor gets carried back to the intake tract and over time cause oil deposits in the intake manifold, intake ports, and on the back of intake valves.  All will eventually lead to poor performance and reduced fuel economy, and the presence of this oil mist in the intake charge may even increase the risk of engine-damaging detonation. 

With forced induction, track use, and/or extended high RPM usage, these symptoms increase as the factory PCV system is overwhelmed, and a catch can becomes a must for your F3x N55.

With direct injected engines this problem becomes more prevalent, and the N54 in your 135i or 335i is no exception.  We're seeing a lot of N54 powered cars with drivability and performance issues due to significant carbon buildup in the intake ports and backs of intake valves.  The “factory fix” is a walnut blasting service that commonly needs performed every 30,000 to 70,000 miles.  Don't be part of this statistic!  Our shop recommends an oil catch can be installed in-line in the PCV system to help reduce the build-up of performance robbing deposits and greatly reduce the need for costly walnut blasting service and related repairs in the future.

​ The catch can utilizes a strategically designed 4 chamber baffle plate system engineered to create multiple changes in the direction of airflow to cause oil droplets to fall out of suspension, maximizing the efficiency of the PCV air/oil separation.  A dipstick is integrated into the cap so you can monitor the oil level, and the can is easily serviced.  At each oil change simply unscrew the canister and empty the trapped oil with your regular used oil.  The Turner Motorsport Oil Catch Can is CNC machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum and with a stealthy black anodized finish for lasting durability and appearance, and includes everything needed for an OEM-like fully reversible installation. Another feature the Turner catch can has is the ability to add on a drain kit so you no longer have to fumble around getting the fill can out of a tight space. The drain can be run down to the belly pan of your car so draining can be done at the same time you change your oil or anytime in between.

Unlike factory lines, the TMS E36 Stage 2 Oil Cooler Line Upgrade can work with vehicles equipped with superchargers or racing alternator pulleys. The TMS oil cooler lines now sit safely away from any moving parts like pulleys and serpentine belts. Our lines are made from HTP (High Temperature Polymer Braided), a synthetic line with multiple advantages over rubber or stainless lines.

We picked HTP lines for four reasons:
1) it insulates the oil from heat better than rubber or stainless lines,
2) the hose can hold a tighter bend radius without crimping or restricting oil flow, which makes routing the oil lines easier and more versatile,
3) the HTP line are less abrasive than stainless steel braided lines so they won�t rub through your factory power steering lines or any other rubber hose on the car,

The N54 engine is no stranger to oil cooling problems, that’s why we recommend installing the MSL Oil Thermostat. The standard oil thermostat will reach around 120 degrees Celsius with a normal driving style. The MSL Oil Thermostat will open at a lower temperature than the standard oil thermostat (at 85 degrees Celsius) and will keep the temperature stable between 95 and 105 degrees Celsius. Installing the MSL thermostat ensures a cooler oil temperature which will result in more stable performance, but above all this improves the reliability of the engine. It is recommended to install the thermostat, especially for cars that are tuned.

When designing this new cooler, CSF wanted to ensure the best possible performance with factory-like fitment. This oil cooler is a truly unique design using CSF’s AC Condenser Technology. The 1-Row Super-High Pressure 32mm 10-Channel Microtube provides optimal oil flow and maximum surface area contact. By keeping the factory mounting location and relative dimensions, the factory ducting and shrouds are all reused with no modifications necessary. It's no secret that N55 BMW turbo motors can suffer from oil control problems causing oil to blow through and coat the intercooler and charge piping, gunking up intake valves and the VANOS system, lowering the effective octane, and generally degrading engine performance. The higher your boost levels the more apparent these problems become. The solution to this problem has finally arrived. The BMS oil catch can. While there are other catch cans on the market they all fall short in various areas. Some are mounted on the hot/turbo side of the motor preventing proper vapor condensation. Others utilize hoses that are too small and runs that are too long to allow proper PCV ventilation causing internal motor/ring sealing issues. Some have insufficient or no internal baffle system while others have internal baffles systems that are too restrictive. Some even bypass the PCV system all together venting crankcase gas and odor to the atmosphere. Most are simply repackaged oil catch cans from smaller / lower power motors shoehorned into place in the turbo BMW engine bay. To solve these problems BMS designed their oil catch can kit from the ground up specifically for the turbo BMW application. It features 100% CNC machining with zero welding for a precision fit and long life. The can itself is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle. The hoses exceed the OEM PCV piping in diameter and that flow rate is maintained throughout the entire oil catch can ensuring no excessive crankcase pressure buildup. The BMS OCC retains the factory fully closed loop PCV operation preventing any PCV vapor from leaking to the atmosphere. The mounting locations are selected to minimize the line length, allow more efficient operation, and retain a stealth look. Install takes around 20 minutes, includes all required hardware, and is 100% reversible. Designing the ultimate BMW E30 Oil Cooler was not an easy task. While with custom fabrication anything is possible, CSF prides itself on making upgraded products that fit like a factory unit. Fortunately, BMW already did some of the leg work for this in the late 1980s. The new CSF #8218 is based on the race-proven and championship-winning formula used by BMW. To give you some history on this topic, we have to go back to 1987. After BMW decided to enter Touring Car and DTM racing, they created what most would consider to be the ultimate E30 M3. In the span of about 5 years, the Group A spec M3 became the most successful touring car of all time. This race-spec BMW won two champion’s titles in the European Touring Car Championship and German Touring Car Championship (aka DTM) and countless other victories. The BMW Engineers had to design an oil cooler that could keep up with the added power of the race-spec engine and perform under the grueling conditions on the track. The size of the standard factory oil cooler was increased by about 50% while using the same mounts and connectors as the standard production M3. The CSF E30 Group A / DTM Race Style Oil Cooler is the same size as these race coolers with some modern upgrades/updates. While your original system may still be functional, it is likely not in the best shape. Dented, clogged, and weathered coolers just can’t perform like a new cooler. Even then, the old tube and fin design don’t compare to the durability and performance of a bar and plate design. CSF understands that most owners don’t want to change the look of their Bavarian classics at this point. That’s why the E30 Group A / DTM Oil Cooler was design to fit in the factory location with no custom mounting hardware necessary. The CSF Oil Cooler offers superior cooling capacity, modern technology, and costs less than a genuine OE replacement. When designing this new cooler, CSF wanted to ensure the best possible performance while ensuring the cooler was as durable as possible. As you’ve seen, oil coolers and other heat exchangers can take quite a beating over time. CSF utilizes an extremely rugged and durable Bar/Plate design that can stand up to far more abuse. The CSF “Aero-Flow” Bar design reduces weight compared to other Bar/Plate designs while maintaining maximum strength and air flow. These “Aero-Flow” bars improve heat dissipation with high-density turbulated multi-louvered fins. Turbulation increases the turbulent flow through a tube, effectively increasing heat exchange rates and abilities. At around 50% larger in size, the CSF #8218 Oil Cooler increases both fluid capacity and core surface area. The overall performance of the Oil Cooler far exceeds the factory cooler’s limits. 100% All-Aluminum construction ensures the best performance and durability. In addition, the black powder coat finish provides extra protection and offers an OEM look behind the grille of your E30. Oil venting and circulation continues to be a problem on BMW engines and now even more so on the turbocharged N54 and N55 engines. The existing stock system does a very poor job of separating fluid and vapor and this leads to an oily film or even small pools of oil throughout the turbos and intake. We're seeing a lot more 135 and 335 cars with drivability and performance issues because oil has sneaked by the ring seals and is coating the intake piping, intercooler, intake valves, and other critical areas. The problem is worsened with higher boost levels. Oil is excellent for lubricating moving parts but terrible when it gets into the combustion chamber, effectively lowering the octane rating and reducing performance. Our own shop has gone the extra step and offers media blasting of the intake valves to strip away the oily buildup we have seen.

Our shop also strongly recommends an oil catch can be installed in the line for the crankcase vent. The oil catch can traps oil as it leaves the valve cover and holds it in a canister. This catch can is located on the cooler side of the engine where the oil will condense easier and stay in the can. Whatever minimal vapors are left over in the oil is then vented back through the canister and into the intake where it is safe to be burned up in the engine or recirculated back through the system again. This is the way the system was designed! At each oil change simply unscrew the canister and empty the trapped oil with your regular used oil. The Burger Tuning oil catch can is the best we have seen so far. Installing one of these will avoid costly repairs in the future and help maintain your boost and performance. It's one of the smartest modifications you can make because it demonstrates a well-thought out tuning strategy and care for the condition of your engine.

The BMS Oil Catch Can is made from aluminum and with a stealthy black anodized finish. It installs on the cooler side of the engine with a dedicated bracket and new oversized vent lines. The location is key as heat will evaporate the oil and send too much vapor back into the engine (where cooler air will turn it back into fluid). The BMS OCC also has a factory-like appearance. Since BMS designed their catch can from scratch they can guarantee it fits and performs correctly for the N54/N55 engine, unlike other catch cans on the market that are poorly retrofitted from other applications and under-sized for the N54 engine.

Note: Since the crankcase vent system is considered part of the overall emissions system, installing this may be a violation of local, state, and federal laws. While exemptions are made for track/race and off-road use, check with your local state inspection facility on using this in street-driven vehicles

The E36 Euro Spec Oil Cooler is exactly what it sounds like. E36 M3’s in Europe came equipped with an oil cooler that mounted under the radiator and was a popular upgrade for E36 owners in the US. Unfortunately, BMW discontinued the oil cooler and they have become harder and harder to find. BimmerWorld reached out to CSF to design a replacement unit that would fit exactly like the factory unit but perform even better. The original oil cooler used Tube and Fin construction. While this is acceptable for cooling performance, it is not a very robust design. CSF chose to go with a Bar and Plate construction to improve durability. While there is plenty of ground clearance, the cooler is low enough to see some potential abuse on the track. CSF wanted to offer that extra durability of a Bar and Plate cooler for track enthusiasts and those running their car on the lower side. The CSF Oil Cooler was designed to be a 1 to 1 replacement for the OEM unit in terms of fitment. This means it uses the same OE mounting points, hardware, and lines. For a Euro E36 M3 or US Z3M, the oil cooler will be a drop-in fit installation. E36 models that were not equipped with the oil cooler from the factory will need the BimmerWorld Euro Oil Cooler Bracket Kit which can attach to an OEM spec Radiator or the CSF #3054.
